I have very low self esteem

Postby lightswitch4 » Tue Oct 09, 2012 11:42 pm

Well... I'm only 14 and I know I'm supposed to stay positive, stay strong. Sometimes it's just hard though. I just want to find a true friend... Someone who understands me and cares about me. I know God does and I know He wishes the best for me and I trust Him. But I'm just trying to figure out how to love ME. I want to be happy, have friends, have fun... I don't know what to do though... Sometimes I just feel lost. I try to stay strong but I don't know how to... I know I'm messing up somewhere. I just don't know how. *dunno*

Like tonight: I tried talking to someone and they just called me weird and walked away...

I just want to be worth something. I want to be happy. I want to have friends, true friends. I want to please God. I want to be better.

I just don't know how :(

If you need someone to talk to, you xan talk to me. If I dont reply right away, it might be because.of the timezones, since I have to go to school =)

Hi lightswitch4 , Old People like me always seem to want to "give" our advice (mostly just telling you how to live you life). I really hope that these words dont , but be patient with an OLD TIMER, I would like to share something. Not that these mean anything or make me an expert, but I have a 29 , a 26 and a 16 year old, I've worked with kids/youth for about 25 yrs in church and Most important I was once 14. This problem of self esteem and the desire to be part of a group, has and always WILL BE a part of the teenage years. As a matter of fact, no matter how "popular" anyone appears to be ALL OF THEM ARE STRUGGLING with these issues. This is what the WORD says Rom 15:7 ACCEPT one another, then, just as CHRIST ACCEPTED YOU, in order to bring praise to God. Also, Rom 12:16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. WHAT WOULD JESUS DO ? Would He try to hang out with the "popular groups " or would He look for those who needed friends ( AND BECOME THEIR FRIEND) Just like you there are MANY who need friends. WARNING !!!! OLD GEEZER ADVICE COMING !!! Look around at people who need a friend the most and be that friend. You'll NEVER HAVE A SHORTAGE OF FRIENDS. Plus, your gonna find out there are some awesome kids out there, Just give them a chance. GBU " OLD " Jimf

Hi Lightswitch 4, I am also a old timer but I can assure you that this is a problem that lots of saints have. I have lived 55 years on this earth and have been struggling with making friends most of those years. One thing that I have noticed that people like you and I sometimes come across as weird because we are trying to hard to be liked and fit in, and that is always a recipe for disaster. Remember you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God made you the way you are for a reason. I believe that true friendship will come your way if you look in the right places for it. Sometimes by trying to fit into the in crowd we put ourselves in a position that God does not want us to be. I like Jim's advice, by befriending someone who is in a similar situation as you, looking for a friend, you can fulfill what God says in Proverbs 18:24 “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly ".
