Wait or Jump Ship?
I watched a movie a couple nights ago about a captain of a fishing crew in the Bering Sea. It was based upon a true story, of a captain who's boat couldn't meet inspection so he decided to sneak out in the middle of a typhoon storm. His boat ends up getting battered very badly, to the point the captain feared that the boat was sinking. He had all of his crew put on survival suits and jump overboard. In the end all but two of the crew died in the cold water. Later the two crew members that survived were told that the boat never sank, but actually survived the storm and made it to shore.
As I thought about this movie, and how it relates to what God calls us to do, I think that sometimes we jump ship out of fear. God gives us a task and the enemy comes along and whispers we are destined to fail. That our boat is going to sink, and it's time to get off the boat. In reality, our boat if it is anchored in God, has no way of sinking and will suffer all the tribulations that comes our way, without a nick or scratch. When God asks us to do His work, we have to lay all our Trust and Faith in Him, that He knows exactly where we are headed and how we are to get there. Step on board, and don't get off til the boat reaches it's Final destination. When jumping ship looks like the right option, it might actually just be a delusion caused by the enemy. Seek God's will and hang on for the ride. God will see you safely into harbor, if you will keep working and not give up. Fight the good Fight....Be God's faithful servant no matter how rocky the boat ride. Don't be tempted and jump ship...wait upon the Lord.

So very true.. because jumping ship seems the easy answer for some.. when in reality.. the fight gets harder because now in addition to the turbulent times... you have added the struggle to tread water...
I always read Proverbs 3: 5-6.. among others and remember that He is with me and while I take the steps.. he makes the path.
God Bless you my friend!
