Question

Postby goldieluvs » Sun Jan 11, 2009 9:07 am

Hi my bros and sis's (such a wonderful family here). I wasnt sure where to post this but ended up here cuz of the topic. (almost posted in Bible Bogglers). There is someone I know in jail waiting trial on murder charges (not whoever killed my cousin's wife, this is my stepsister halfbrother). At any rate, his trial is coming up in April or May, and my sister gave me the jail address to write him because i was asking about what kind of stuff could send him. I asked her if he would want a Bible and she said she doubted that. Ok, the rule is not to say or write anything related to his upcoming charges. And I cant send tracts, magazines and books have to come directly from manufacturer or store. But i wanted to just send him a note to let him know I am thinking of him and the changes that have happened in my life. He has asked for smashing pumpkins song lyrics (whoever they are). I am going to send a couple but am also sending Who Am I lyrics. I guess I want to explain one more thing about him, he is very simple minded, and I wanted to send a Bible verse to encourage him. I prayed about it and just opened my Bible and this is where it landed Jeremiah 29:11-14. For I know the plans i have for you.. plans to give you hope and a future. shortened version. I was afraid to send that tho because preachers used to tell me people would pray and just open their Bible and think the Lord led them to that particular verse and not necessarily true. Plus I am afraid it will lead him to think God will make a way for him to be found not guilty. But, I did want to share a lil of God with him, even if just one verse a week. I need some suggestions of maybe some good verses to share. I wanted to give him a glimpse of Jesus without him thinking he will magically get out of jail. Honestly, he will probably be in prison several years. So, i wanna start out with lil verses to help him see a lil at a time. Again keep in mind he is very simple minded and I hate to put it that way but its true. He was learning disabled and never finished school. He was kicked in the head by a horse when he was just a toddler and knocked unconscious and they never took him to hospital ( so potential brain damage). Please any advice would be appreciated, i wanna show him Jesus love a lil at a time. *help*

Hey sis, share the best verse in the Bible with him.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Also, if you will go to the Many Called Few Chosen forum, splash listed a bunch of scriptures to share with souls you are trying to reach. Check out her post on there.

There are many wonderful verses in the Bible, and if you have any more questions or need any help, just let me know.

luv ya *hug*

I don't want to be rude, I don't know his exact condition....have you looked at any bibles aimed at young people, they're written in a more basic form and are easier to understand.

There are all forms of wonderful devotionals out there too, that use a verse a day, and have a short reading, and prayer for daily use...he might like that. Sometimes a 'whole bible' is a little overwhelming, to try and decide what to read.

MLG did point out the greates verse there is! All scripture is God-breathed, and I think the Lord will lead you to the ones you need to share. This is one I love---

Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

You're doing a great thing, sharing the Word like this. Hugs, Kim

amen ... Gold I have a bible like kim was sharing and the funny thing I got my kids each one and with out knowing if she read it cuz I have always bought them bibles since little but they was older now and now and that one I keep open and every one in house gets to read it even her and it has where she shares and all her markings and I am so bless'd when I read it cuz she must have wrote all this when I really thought she was furthest away from God ...

and double blessing she now reads it again tooo and gets to see all she wrote and how close she was then tooo ... helping her now again to show her where she been and where she is ...

The gift that keeps on Giving!

Soooo giving a bible and devotions in it was a very awesome tool ..

God Will guide you ...

Awesome idea kimmy. I think ima saving that one for a little bit down the road, i think maybe if i keep in regular contact and share a lil that maybe he will get curious and want more. I do really like the idea of devotional or bible for kids, and devotional. And verse u shared is awesome too along with Mlgs. I was mainly looking for verses i could put in letters to him for first few months and then hopefully he will be interested in getting a Bible. I would gladly send him one now, but I think that maybe if I show love first for awhile, then he will be more curious about it. I dont want to just say Hi heres the Bible, God will save ya, read it. Well i do want him to have one,, but i want him to know that its a personal walk everyday and if I can stay in regular contact and give a lil, maybe he will see and then actually read it when i send one.But i can copy a devotional page and send to him everytime that is awesome idea. Course I would have to give author credit, maybe i should email asking permission first. Anyways ty all.

Hi, Goldie Golderson! Here are a few wonderful verses.

In times of discouragement:

Psalm 77:1 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

In times of trouble:

Psalm 9:9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

Psalm 31:7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;
9Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Regarding salvation:

Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

Psalm 106:8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near...

And regarding love:

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved; ) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

1 John 3:1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

John 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Hopefully, you can pick out some verses for him.

Love you, goldie. God bless you.

flutie
My resolution for today, next month, and years to come is to be further from the world and closer to the Word.
