True Friendship

I was always with her through thick and thin
I told her she could call me even if she was two sheets to the wind
That night she did not call me I knew something was far too wrong

The next day I got that phone calls that every friend dreads
It was the cops saying I should come quick
She was nearly dead from a bad accident
They said she will be lucky if she lived

I wish I could of done something else
Before this horrible thing happened
I told her I would stay by her side
Til the day that she died

I told her she should quit
Before it was too late
Now what I fear the most is
That day has come and I think its too late

I was her friend before she started drinking
I was her friend when she started drinking
But what I will never forget is that day when
I became her friend when she quit drinking
