Well, I don't have her name, but she was the daughter of Herodias (Herod's dead brother's, Philip's, wife). The daughter danced for Herod on his birthday, and Herod being pleased promised to give her whatever she asked for. She asked for the head of John The Baptist on a platter. However, in Matthew 14:8, we read that her mama, Herodias, is the one that instructed her daughter to ask for John The Baptist's head, beforehand. I suppose it was common knowledge that if a female danced for Herod and pleased him that he granted them something special.

Long answer, but the story is worth the read, huh?.
