Journal day one

Postby AbbyNicole » Wed Mar 11, 2015 8:14 am

I'm new at this, so my thoughts may be a bit scattered..
I guess I'll introduce myself.. My name is Abby (ntmu) and I'm newly accepting Jesus as my saviour and God into my life.
see, all my life I've had emotional issues. Mostly feelings of worthlessness which lead to anger. I'll add this now, I havent been
to a psychiatrist or psychologist for evaluation as I can't afford it or therapy. which is why I decided to start here.
I find myself having a real hard time letting go of past issues. Even things I know aren't my fault such as my Fathers suicide
I lash out at those I care about knowing it's nothing to really worry about.. all the anger I just want it gone..I don't want to hurt people. Growing up in a troubled home has definitely left a mark on me.. more like scars.. School was terrible most of the time.. bullied alot..and then bullied at home by older siblings.. well one anyway. These are all things I understand have impacted me as a person, and contributed to my issues with anger, sense of self worth, decisions I have made in life..

I'm ready to move on and leave it all behind, I'm having such a hard time leaving it behind me, and forgiving myself of sins God has forgivin me for. I often feel as though Satan is atracking me alot and I know he'll do anything to mess with my head and keep me from spiritual peace.
Any words of wisdom, or recommended Scripture to read would be greatly appreciated.
And I have a question for anyone who reads this.. How did you let go..just turn it all to God?

Thank You for taking the time to read this,
Abby

Dear Abby,

Hello, my name is Dana and I'm a guy who deals with anger too. I've never gotten over it either. A lot of what you said applies to me too. So, we have lots in common. Read Ephesians 4:26-27 about not letting the sun go down on your anger.

Ephesians 4:26-27:

26 wBe angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and xgive no opportunity to the devil.

That to me is saying that you shouldn't let the sun go down when you're angry. Make amends with whoever it is you were angry with that day.

I have to learn to do that too. I usually start fights with my mom, and I shouldn't do that. If you want an accountability partner, we can email each other. Welcome to the family of Christ.

Hello AbbyNicole :)

God bless you this day, and welcome to Christianity Oasis.

I'm glad that you have begun the 14 Day Counseling Study: http://www.christianityoasis.com/CCCC/Forum.htm
It will help you in growing in your relationship with The Lord as it leans heavily on the scriptures within The Bible -- The Word of God.

Now that you have accepted Christ Jesus as Saviour, you have the indwelling of The Holy Spirit within you, and He is doing the miraculous within you, changing you -- may it be ever so slowly -- to grow in the knowledge and understanding of The Lord so that you may better reflect Him. Whenever we reflect God within this world, God is glorified, and that is a blessed thing.

It is not uncommon for humans to be tempted by anger, because we're selfish by our old nature -- the nature that was without communion with God. Now that you are a child of God and are getting to know The Lord (communion with God), you also have access to the fruit of The Spirit, and by that blessed power we are able to overcome. One of the fruit of The Holy Spirit is self-control, another is patience. Whenever you feel tempted by anger, reach for perfect patience and self-control from The Holy Spirit. With His help and with practice, you'll begin to see the changes He is making within your life. God is so very Good!!!

Ever heard the saying "To err is human, to forgive divine"? We humans have a lot of error in thinking and beliefs that need to be corrected. Forgiveness comes from The Lord, and He showered forgiveness upon us through the blood of Christ Jesus. Grace is unmerited favor: Forgiveness. God's Word will correct our old erroneous thinking and beliefs, and His Truth (The Word / Jesus) will do the miraculous by the moving of The Holy Spirit within. The more you get to know Him, through His Word, the sooner you'll recognize Him -- even through His still small voice. :)

There are many blessed studies on this site. There is a short, but very sweet study on Anger on this site that I believe will help you. Here is the link: http://www.christianityoasis.com/Keywor ... gement.htm

There is a line/quote in Shakespeare's MacBeth..."something wicked this way comes". Anger is but one way that we humans err and do wickedly. When we feel the need to revenge -- to avenge ourselves, we allow anger to enter in -- or, something wicked this way comes. Remember, we will be tempted, because Satan will most certainly be messing with children of God. Plus, we still have so this old nature that was taught unrighteous behavior by the world. That is why it is so important to keep our eyes on Jesus -- to seek the presence of The Lord through prayer and His Word, so that we don't rely on our own (old nature) devices. We are no longer mere men/women, but are a new creature in Christ. Hallelujah!!!

Prayers are rising to our Lord in the name of Jesus on your behalf. God's will be done.

AbbyNicole, Jesus loves you so very much.

God bless and keep you.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack

Thank You, Sister, for the uplifting words :)
I will definitely check out the link you provided.
As I am still new in studying and learning the Bible I cannot quote Scripture just yet, but I find
the book of Proverbs and Psalms have been very helpful for me. I believe that only through the
Word and trusting in Jesus to heal me can I find that inner peace and happiness.

God bless you as well :)
