marriage can be tough and we need to press on

Postby DaughteroftheKING » Wed Jun 25, 2014 10:43 am

Hi Fellow Brethren...Married? I am to a wonderful Christian husband. I get so upset when he does not listen to me or understand so I am trying this counseling (on day 3) to see if I can stay positive despite negative thoughts. *Cross* Praying for Christian marriages to glorify God, join me. P.S we have 5 kids, have been married 24 years & are super busy with ministry and work if that helps explain why by hubby is focused on a lot of important things and gets impatient with my feelings wanting to be expressed. Depending upon 2 Cor. 12: 9 & 10..."His strength in our weaknesses.." and Jesus listening to my feelings all the time.

day 5 Journaling- topic was that I am Selfish. Yeah, that is what it all boils down to for sure. Can we still want to be heard and know someone wants to listen and cares about what we want to express? This is the summation of the problem I am trying this counseling format for. So many times I don't get to talk about things or get cut off or reprimanded , ending feeling like my husband doesn not care to hear what I have to say. SO selfish is the day and selfish is what I am by wanting to be heard. Good thing Jesus cares and always listens!!! However, I desire to glorify God in my Christian marriage! Praying for Chrsitian marriages to glorify God. We need help!

Day 6 stepping stone reflection. Have my chart and ready to get points for reading the Bible, volunteering, gardening & listening to Christian music. Fun stuff I love to do, including gardening. We'll see if this helps! If I stay positive despite circumstances or other's words and behavior toward me it'll be great! Lord willing- I am His weak vessel in need of His Spirit to strengthen me. May it be so Lord Jesus. Please protect me as well and help me stay healed from the top of my head to the tips of my toes so no more cancer will ever return. In Jesus'Name, amen. (breast cancer survivor...loved by my Lord!) :)

Day 7 Stepping Stone brought new light on the verse 2 Cor. 10:5b "Take every thought captive and MAKE IT obedient to Christ.". Now to remember to do this in the daily grind when tired and weary on the journey and covered in sweat after a hard day work here in Cambodia. That is usually when I take things to heart and get hurt feelings by words others say. I need to brush off those words and focus on Jesus' WOrds- a verse! The thing is when you live with other Christians you can only put so much under the carpet then you should deal with the negativity of others eventually once the pile under the carpets gets too large! That is the hard part. Prayerfully- DaughterofhteKING

Stepping stone 9 ...surround yourself with Scripture. Which verses should I write on sticky notes for thebathroom mirrors? My problem is in disagreements with my husband as he hammers me when I am wrong. I have a hard time when ican not get him to stop once I say sorry. Forgiveness is as far as the east is from the west., I said today quoting Jesus to try to help.? Pray as we all are sinners living with sinners.

Dop= ten in Khmer. Effective Prayer. Happens to be when I'm planning some top secret prayer time today....then stepping stone 10 is all about prayer. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING- 1 Thess. 5:17 . Wonderful reminders about prayer, praying and giving thanks to our mighty God. Man, if I remain prayerful and thankful during my day how can my petty temporal troubles get me down?! Off to the daily battle...prayerfully.

Stepping Stone 11- wow - this study is really working!!! I had a disagreement with my husband (after waiting 20 min with my bike helmet on waiting outside for him after he said he's ready to go ...just by telling him how I felt @ waiting he ditched me and lectured me...same ole'= my problem why I'm here for counseling) today. Then as I biked off the 35 min by myself I started immediately praying and had the peace of Christ and looked at the bright side! ---------------Then today's stepping stone 11 WAS AMAZING!!!---Wow at the link to 1 Thess. Chapter 5!! Starting at verse 2. I wrote down so many verses from that to post around the house that will help me and my entire family! God is working- Praise Him & keep Christian Marriages In Prayer as we are under attack from the enemy who wants to ruin our Chistian witness.

stone 12 late at night fitting it in writing in the dark:) Did do gardening today, prayed a lot and wrote down & posted great Bible verses from our last stone- 1 Thess Chapter 5, good stuff! Yeah- feeling the battle we are in. Depending upon 2 Cor. 12: 9 & 10- His strength made perfect in our weakness. Motherhood and being married is hard work and I need to press on in the daily grind. Teenager with a bad attitude. Ugh. Praying, trying, getting back up continually. - A Saved Sinner- Daughter of the KING

I am so sorry for your struggling marriage. He so sounds abusive. :( I would like to encourage you to remind yourself of Gods grace when your spouse won't forgive you. God already he's. Make God your spouse.

Hi sweetie!
Like you I am learning too. I'll start my journal today. However, I've been only married for almost two years, sorry if this discourage you, but I am learning a lot now and despite of being a newly married, I can tell you I have gone through many things. The only advice I've got right now is to obey and being humble. This is not from me, this is from God and from another older married woman who is teaching me how to be a wife. I am very sorry you're going through this situation, I understand your feelings. I only know that when we obey God makes the rest. Maybe, you'll have to say sorry seventy times seven in a day but remember that God has forgiven you, your past, present and future. We need to go to the Cross every day... I'm on that way too. :)
