My first Baby step for the next fourteen days
Hi all,
Things that I would like to share for my first day.......
I think I am suffering from depression and I am desperate looking for ways to snap out of it. It has come to the point where I feel I am totally worthless in this world for not being able to look after my kids and my wife at least in material terms.
I am afraid of dissapointing them though I have juz gotten a job that might just lead them to a relatively comfortable life. I can see the joy in their eyes on the good things they can look forward to when they learnt of my new job capacity. However, this fear of losing my job has manifested my life to such an extend that I am having nightmares and lost all my past passion. (My boss has start dropping hints that I might not last for very long)
I am really very weary and feel like giving it all up, running to a place where no one can find me, or ending it all.
I believe it is by no means a coincidence I am sitting here, reading articles and typing these words from this website. And I hope I can see light by the end of the 14 days.........

Maverick
Hey Maverick, welcome to the Oasis!
I'm so glad you found the COOL Counseling study! And you said it best when you said "baby steps"... I've personally found this is the best way to renew your thinking hence your action, as well as to strengthen your spiritual Walk with Him!
There are a couple of other things that spoke to me in your post... you spoke of depression and fear... two scriptures came to my mind and heart...
The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalms 27:1)
So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous hand. (Isaiah 41: 10)
You are in a good place here, Maverick, to challenge the depression and fear... in addition to the CCCC study I would encourage you to check out the COOL sermons located in the forum index. There are excellent studies on depression and fear and how to overcome.
And you WILL begin to see the light soon brother, if you continue to seek with an open mind and heart... we are glad you are here! Please holler if you need anything
