Who am I?

Well, let me begin by saying that as a scientist, I kind of resent the condecending tone this article takes at the beginning. No, I am not of of those big-bang-monkey-uncle scientists, but I do believe that many things about science and technology are gifts from God that He allows to help mankind. The first thing that comes to mind is medicine and how many diseases are no longer life threatening because of them, but also simpler things we might not even think about like dishwashers or batteries. Some people might say this is trying to "play God" but I really don't think so. I think God is pleased with how some people are trying to further their respective fields to help out humankind as a whole. Now, I'm not so naive as to think that everyone does these things to the glory of God. The devil is a liar! But on the whole, I don't think science is altogether evil.

I fully and wholehearted acknowledge God as creator of this universe and everything therein. I don't believe in the big bang theory. To me, that's nothing but a tv show. I believe with my whole being that God and God alone is the author and finisher of my fate, the beginning and ending of the world, and everything in between. Yes, I studied science, and I work in a scientific field, but I would be a fool if I thought that God had no part in making ME, let alone making the wonder that is this world! We were all made in GOD'S image, and my God is NOT a monkey! I believe when the Scripture says "some who have proclaimed these [fact about science] have made mistakes concerning the faith" (1 Tim 6:21).

Okay, I'm off topic, but I just had to put that out there. Those are just my opinions, and if you don't agree that's fine, but please don't be disrespectful.

Moooving right along, I got some really interesting insight into the Holy Trinity. It was a true learning experience, and I'm thankful to have gotten a good understanding of the Holy Trinity.

Also, something this topic hit the nail right on the head for me. It reads: You still wonder … Is this as good as it gets? Certainly I was born for more than this! But after reading up to here, you may feel guilty for wanting more and hesitant to ask for it. Is it selfish to desire more success in your life? Maybe it’s not fame you’re looking for, but a little more money wouldn’t hurt. Just enough so you wouldn’t have to worry about putting food on the table, maybe a little college fund for the kids, perhaps a little nest egg … you know, in case Social Security ever goes broke … these kind of things. This is EXACTLY what I'm thinking sometimes! I feel like, geez, God gives me so much and my problems are really so small compared to things going on in the world, who am I to NOT settle for what I have? Doesn't wanting more make me an ingrate? But what I really want is to just do what God's will for me is. I don't know what that is, but I hope He will reveal that to me. Whatever it is, I just want to do what makes God happy. I've tried living by my own will, but I it doesn't work! Please God, have your way!

I hadn't read this in a while so went to reread it. Hit page 2, it didn't take, so I ended up reading two lessons this morning. All your fault. rofl

I don't understand what is condescending. Keep in mind that people on this site are not only from different educational levels, but also many of them speak English as a second language. That may be where you are getting the simplistic.

One thing I love about this site is that it spends time on the basic issues. If you use a concordance and search for different words in the Bible, you will find it very hard to find any verses on the topics that split churches. Those verses are very hard to find. But you will find many on love.

I'm glad you are working on this.
Hugs,
Dema

Noooo! I didn't mean to say that the site is simplistic. I actually like the fact they do such a great job at breaking down the language into terms we can understand, and then going a step further, they use relatable examples from modern times and real life. I love that about this site. There are so many things I've learned that I read about on this site that gave me an even clearer picture, like what I was saying about the Holy Spirit.

What I was referring to is the tone the "Who am I?" article takes at the beginnign of it. For example, it reads "Science will give credit to anything for the existence of things... except God. [...] Science seems to seek answers to the unexplained as if they will then be the creator if they can give a reason that we will swallow. Science opposes Faith because it seeks for proof." I don't believe this. I don't believe that anybody or any thing other than God Himself created this universe. When I read it, to me it kind of sounds like they are just lumping all scientists together. It's possible, too, that I'm reading it wrong or taking it too personally, but again, these are just my opinions.

As I read on, though, I did see that they kind of emphasized that the scientists out there that lean on their own understanding and/or believe that science can explain or "prove" God are "foolish", and that made it clear for me the point they were making.

Hello Pert (((hugs)))

God bless you this day.

I am so delighted that you are truly thinking and chewing on what is shared in the study. I, personally, love assignments -- especially God assignments -- because it keeps my mind active and focused on good things. It seems you do too. Wooooohooooo!!! God is so Good!!!

God bless and keep you, Pert.
Love,
Mack

I see your point. But what word would you use? That actually could make a rather interesting discussion.

"Those who rely on science instead of faith? Those who believe in science as their God?" Those phrases are more precise. But they are also rather antagonistic? Maybe?

CS Lewis wrote about these people and called them Naturalists. But that was a term commonly used in his day. I'm not sure that we fully understand the definition today. Hmmmmm.
