Prayers for those of us facing Hurricane Irene's destruction
Requesting prayers for those of us who live along the Eastern Seaboard who are waiting to see what happens when Hurricane Irene makes landfall at the Jersey shore and beyond. She's made landfall in North Carolina this morning and, at 7a.m. it was told on our local news station that the high winds(70-100mph)they'd predicted to be here after 6p.m. this evening, might happen as early as the noon hour because Hurricane Irene was "moving quickly".
Mandatory evacuations began yesterday(Saturday)morning throughout coastal areas of NJ.
One of our major roadways was closed down last night, and there's talk of localized flooding, with depths as much as a foot.
We've been asked to cut back cell-phone usage, as the authorities want to make sure they have the ability to keep lines of communication open, should we experience downed wires which will cause our land-lines to not work.
I've been praying, asking the LORD to watch over us, and to keep us safe.
Hubby is in Texas and I am home alone with our 2 dogs. I think they are sensing my nervousness, even though I am leaving this in my Lord's hands. Only HE can calm the storm.
I ask you to remember us today, and to say a prayer for us...If the storm surge hits early, my internet service will be down more than likely, the rest of the weekend.
But I am prepared. I've got ice, batteries for a "boom box", a working flashlight and plenty of food for me and my doggies to get us through the weekend.
Love you bunches....And I love Him and am already praising and thanking Him for answered prayers.
God Bless
Daisy

I've been wondering who from the Oasis family lives near the east coast.
I'm glad you wrote in Daisy! I've been praying for you, and everyone else

I am reminded of Jesus talking to the rageing sea.
I am reminded of the faith of a mustard seed.
I am remined that HE will go thru the storms with us.
Go ahead. Speak to the stroms.
He that is in you is greater.....
Speak with confidence!
Peace be with you my sister.

Re: Prayers for those of us facing Hurricane Irene's destruc
Thank you Mack and Timothy for prayers. Much appreciated.
I'm sure y'all have seen the news since the hurricane, and I'm glad to say that our lil' area of NJ didn't get it half as bad as others around the state and up and down the coast.
When the rain began and the wind started to howl Saturday I prayed for a hedge of protection around our and our neighbor's homes, read my Bible out-loud while pacing the floors...but still I admitted to Him that I was scared, even though I was putting on quite the facade when family members called me and asked "are you okay?" I didn't want them to worry about me.
Two words kept coming into my ears......FEAR NOT. I put my trust and faith in those 2 words and the One who gave that message to me... \0/
The Lord answered prayers. I went outside Sunday morning-dreading to see the damage......BUT all I saw were a few tiny branches in the yard. Nothing at all like I'd expected. Even the roof to our house was left pretty much untouched from branches hanging overhead from a 200 foot tall oak tree!!! \0/
In the flower garden next to our house I have a St. Francis of Assisi statue/birdfeeder/bird bath. It weighs nothing....made of plastic, and is NOT weighed down for stability. But you know what? Those 50+mph winds did NOT topple it over.
GOD IS GOOD! HE IS OUR SHEPHERD AND WE ARE HIS SHEEP. HE PROTECTS US LIKE A MOTHER HEN WHO GUARDS THEIR CHICKS UNDER HIS WINGS. Thank You LORD!
I ask for everyone to continue to pray for others along the East Coast. Hundreds of thousands of families are without power, many towns are flooded. Rivers have over-run their banks, along with structural damage that is said will cost in the BILLIONS to take care of.
God Bless you all
Love ya's
