Knowing the voice of God.

Postby tamtam34 » Sat Jun 11, 2011 8:53 pm

I have been in an emotionally abusive relationship with a man who I believed God was telling me was the one that I was to marry. I prayed almost daily about the relationship and felt I always got the same answer. That this man was the one and to wait. God was working on him and me. He did ask me to marry him although less then a month later the abuse became worse and I was forced to end the relationship. This man is also a preacher. He doesn't Pastor a church he goes from church to church visiting and preaching. He has only been preaching a little over a yr. I have lost my faith in my ability to recognize Gods voice and to lead me. I am broken hearted for the loss of this man in my life because although he had a very abusive side a he also had beautiful spirit of God, which in it's self has left me confused. We would talk for hours daily about God and life continously for the last yr. I really felt a connection with him I never felt with any other person. My faith in myself and in others has been damaged and I'm afraid I can't get passed the pain and confusion. I don't even want to pray about things in my own life any longer because I don't believe I know Gods voice and I don't trust the answers I get.

God's answers bring peace to your life...often when we are confused and in turmoil...it's a matter of just being still and getting on our face before God and knowing that He is God...then we can ask for forgiveness of our sins...pour out our heart and soul...and begin to seek God's voice...and if we listen we will hear Him...but when one gets to the point they aren't hearing Him...it means there is something standing in the way between them and God...often a sin. Ask God to search your soul and your heart...and to bring to light what is standing between you and Him at this times.

I will be praying for you.

*hug* you are gonna get through this....grab onto that faith you have deep inside, about who God really is and what He can do for you.

Take care and God Bless
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

Hi tamtam34,

A lot of Christians have this sort of battle in their walk, and it is made even more complicated by the fact that the enemy likes to get inside our heads and 'guide' us to the extent that we feel we are being led in a certain direction, but we are not even sure if it is The Lord leading, or the enemy misleading us.

I think there is encouragement to be taken from the following bible verse: (Psalm 37:4,7)

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass ... Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him

Quite often there are no immediate solutions, God wants to see us persist through difficult, uncertain times, even in our own faith. 'He shall bring it to pass...', for example, can obviously mean that he might bring the change gradually, especially since he urges his faithful to '... wait patiently for Him.'

Just remember that all Christians, even some of the his most faithful in the bible, have gone through similar trials. Stick with Him, and he promises to get you through, and to help you get to the point in your walk with Him that is both satisfactory to you and to Him.

God bless. Will be praying for you.
