In Spirit and in Truth; Part2

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

In Spirit and in Truth; Part2

Hello All,

*AngelYellow*
Blessings!

I hope you are having a super evening in the Lord.

We can all think back to a time when our mind was entirely of the flesh, to a time when finding the mind of our spirit within was somewhat of a mystery. Even as a reborn Spirit filled Christian such was a trying experience. We had many questions about spiritual life that went unanswered. Beyond the baptism of the Holy Spirit and experiencing that biblical truth, we read all of the scriptures about the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, but could not understand why these wonderful workings of our Lord were dormant within us. Where was the oneness with our Lord and Father? Weren't we supposed to be doing greater works? Why weren't we experiencing the love of our Father that He loved the Lord Jesus with? Why wasn't the Holy Spirit teaching us all things? Why couldn't we avert anger, or stop our eyes from taking in lust, or being puffed up in pride by our accomplishments?

Paul told us it was because we were still carnal. Our spirit had been given life, our guilt before God assuaged, but something was still amiss. For whatever reason, we were simply not ready for a spiritual walk, for the great things of the Spirit. We wouldn't be able to handle the responsibility of being a spiritual man. Something had to be changed within us and it would take quite some time. We were but babes, carnal, only to be given the sincere milk of the word. We had to grow. We had to increase in knowledge and understanding as our Lord willed, not as we willed. Our self will had to be broken. We had to understand our carnal way produced failure. We had to be patient, persevere, and persist in our going on with God in His Word despite our continual failings. We had to endure chastenings, and trials, and tribulations and not quit. And we had to endure them until we were entirely broken, nothing left of ourselves to bring, only to the cross to cling.

Then it was time to be spiritual. We were ready. Through all of our failures we discovered our Father's great love for us was still there. He gave us grace and blessed us. We asked for wisdom of the spirit and a much greater knowledge of Him, and we received it. We suddenly saw what was missing! Our soul had to be converted. It had to be severed from the flesh entirely. It had to be turned inward to the spiritual man. We saw that our spiritual man was now there. He began to show us things to come, reveal more about our Lord to us, remind us of all our Lord said to us, and bring light to the eyes of our understanding. Then, yes then, our Father came and blessed us with the presence of His pure love, a love that also went out to our brothers and sisters in the Lord, and to the lost. He made us to love Him and worship Him with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and do so in spirit and in truth.

Our souls had to be purified through the truth of the Spirit to be made love for all, and His Word to our spirit had to become our light, and a light for all. Our soul had to be prepared much to receive the light of the glorious gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and love Him all the more.

1Pet.1

[22] Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Pss.119

[130] The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
