Listening to His voice

Postby Guest » Mon Apr 12, 2010 5:07 pm

Ever since I posted the other day, I've had this urge to get out my bible and read. I haven't opened it in months...it's just been sitting there. And even though I keep having this nudging inside me, I have yet to do it. I know it's God urging me; trying to guide me back into His word...His arms. But I can't seem to do it. I can't let go.
I hear that voice inside me; telling me to get down on my knees, let go once and for all. Give all of me, and everything inside, back to Him. Why is it so hard? Why is the flesh so hard to kill? I can't seem to escape myself. I'm trapped in my own mind that's telling me all sorts of different things. I know...I have to listen to just Christ's voice. But....lol I was going to ask how do I do that....but what I started this post with is a good answer. Getting out that bible.
Maybe I'll finally do it now....wow, my mind is already filling up with excuses; things I need to do...instead of getting that bible. But I'm going to ignore my own mind and the lies the enemy puts in there....Time to hear God.

Amen sis...take those thoughts captive and DECIDE to do what the Lord is nudging you to do. He only has good things in store for you. may not seem so good at the time..cuz dying to the flesh isnt fun or easy..but! its so worth it. DECIDE..and then follow through.

love you, girl.

in Jesus,

Exactly!! Time to hear God...go ahead and pick up that Bible sis, and let it fall open to what God would have you read. He probably has something awesome to share with you. It will be a blessing, and you will be glad you did.

Sometimes the flesh is really hard to move. But if you will seek God out He will help you overcome the flesh with Spiritual things....and the flesh will dominate you and your life less and less.

Praying for you sis.

luv ya

Hey sis, you know those nudges keep coming until we do what He wants. But you know, you don't want the nudges to stop either which could happen if you keep ignoring it.

Well sad to say after I posted that, I did let other things get in the way. I put it off and got caught up and forgot about it.
Then this morning I was sitting here listening to Christian music and I knew I couldn't forget anymore. Writing in my journal, I was talking about the 'shoulda, coulda, woulda's'...I know we all do that at one time or another. I do it all the time. I shoulda done this or that; I coulda done it a different way; I woulda been someone totally different if I had; ect.
But I said ya know what, I can't live in the 'shoulda, coulda, woulda's'; where does that get us except stuck in the past. In our own regret. We have to change it to I should and I can and so I will...right now.
So, I got my bible out of the box it has been sitting in and sat down and said a prayer that I wrote in my journal. A sinner's prayer. I finally asked forgiveness. Gave myself and life back to Him. Then I opened that good book and it came to Deuteronomy 5. At first I thought wait...the commandments?...why should I read those, I know them. So I actually closed the bible and said Lord I want to be sure that this is where you want me. Well, I heard...Go back to Deu. 5...so I did and I read that chapter. The main thing that stuck out to me was Deu. 5:32-33....
'So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the ways that the Lord your God has commanded you.'
I had gone so far to the left and right; and turned myself in circles and was totally lost.
Then I noticed a scripture I had highlighted another time, Deu. 11:1 and 11:18-19. Seems the big thing He's telling me here is what I said at the end of that post...Time to Hear God. Listen and obey competely without forgetting or ignoring. I have to stay in the word, in that bible.
Thank you all for reading and commenting and praying. I love you! GB :)

Hey sis, just remember it's not so much about falling down as to get back up. We all fall...we all allow things to hamper our walk with Jesus...and yes then we have regrets...but Jesus doesn't want us to dwell on those regrets....He wants us to get up and get back in the race. Come on sis...hop back up on those feet...and run for the finish line.

luv ya
