who switched off my brain?

Postby Lionhearted » Wed Dec 16, 2009 12:56 pm

Good morning my brothers and sisters!!

i wasn't sure where to post this. its about a book that is just too good to keep to myself; but it is about emotions, so i chose this spot.

the title of the book is called: who switched off my brain? controlling toxic thoughts and emotions, its written by dr. caroline leaf.

here are a few quotes:

Research shows that around 87% of illnesses can be attributed to our thought life, and approximately 13% to diet, genetics and environment. Studies conclusively link more chronic diseases (also known as lifestyle diseases) to an epidemic of toxic emotions in our culture. These toxic emotions can cause migraines, hypertension, strokes, cancer, skin problems, diabetes, infections and allergies, just to name a few. Despite all the marvels of modern high-tech medicine and decades of innovative research, these illnesses are increasing worldwide.

Even more frightening is that medical science has directly linked emotions, such as depression, to an increased risk of cancer and heart disease. Studies also point to a direct correlation between anxiety/fear and heart palpitations, irritable bowel syndrome, and tension headaches and heart problems

According to the American Institute of Stress, between 75 to 90% of visits to primary-care physicians result from stress-related disorders.

i pray whoever needs to read this, finds it by God's grace and power ... and has their eyes opened, as mine were.

*hug*

I just found this.

Cool topic.

I know for myself much of my conditions have gone away when stress and anxiety were under check. Depression and Fibromyalgia included on those.

Stress related stroke, ankles hurting and appearing bruised, stomach upset, panic attacks, symptoms of heart attacks, head aches, and adhd.

Take away the stress, eat healthy, and exercise and they are nearly gone. No medications. Woo hoo!

How do you take away the stress? OH MY GOODNESS!
Learning to trust God. Faith in His will being done. After all if he wills it, it must be something I can go through and handle.
Exercise helps destress, warm baths or hot shower, relaxing chamomile tea, and even homeopathics which are cheaper than anti anxiety drugs and better for us. Getting out away from the stress even if just for a 15 min walk.
And giving our bodies the proper nutrition is so important to helping it deal with stress.
Quiet time. Prayer. Worship music. Rest. His word. :)

Peace..Be still.
He can quiet the storms with in.

hey pinella;

YES!!!!! how kewl is that huh my sis; thank you for sharing your success with getting your thoughts/emotions under control. AND also for sharing what works for you. i'm a big believer in us helping each other with our knowledge of what works and what doesn't.

i too, have experienced much tangible success with getting the "stress" out; 3 years ago my doc told me that if i didn't get my blood pressure under control that i would have to take meds; i completely turned it over to Him and allowed Him to search my heart and expose to me what my problem(s) were stemming from. i cannot remember exactly how long my doc gave me (i think it was 1 week or 1 month) to get it back down, she didn't give me very long because it was bordering on dangerously high. btw ... it was my non-acceptance of the season of life the Lord had allowed us to enter into. it was such good growth the day i learned this knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 - My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

Amen

To just ride the waves would remove so much of our stress and effect our physical bodies in such a more positive way. Seems to get easier to ride with each surfing lesson we get.
