Day 7

Postby harmonizer » Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:28 pm

Well, Christmas slowed me dow, but I'm back to the plow. I have to print out some of the charts and start on them. I'll keep goin'. I'm hoping that God will be with me and my family. There are lots of steps that we have to take. (Puttintg our home on the markert, avoiding forclosure, takling to dept collectors, managing and maintaining our marriage, dealing with the dynamic of my family and their problems...the whole shabang. Can anyone help me with this situation...

My wife, through all of this, believes strongly that the Lord has called us to another state. We battled (and are still battleing) over this every since I said that I felt the Lord was leading me to go back to school. She believed that she heard the Lord say one place and I totally disagreed, for a lot of good reasons. (That hinders me alot) such as, well, I got my Masters from that same school that I wanted to go back to, 2. it was in state and I didn't have to pay out of state fees, 3. The school was in the top 5 schools for my degree program, 4. it was only three hours away from our parents, 5. The teachers are well known, 6. I didn't have to take the GRE!!! NOW the other school was out of state (fees), I didn't know anything about the school, the main person that I was to study with was retiring, I would have had to submit GRE scores (mine are horrible)...

Now my wife has crazy faith. She has a very good relationship with God. I trully want us to be able to hear God togther and agree on more things in our marriage, but to be honest, I'm very scared with this situation. I didn't get into the program, and our dept is HUGE! My logic says to go back to my job in August and try and modify our morgage and save our house. She says let's not be like the Israelits and go back to Egypt!

My relationship with God has hit something and I'm trying to figure out what's happining. I'm seeking His face and His explainations. Lot's going on, more than I can write...Still seeking, still plowin',...

Peace be still.

Could it be you are seeing only a portion of the picture and God sees the entire plan.

So you are trying on your own to fix things with all you strength and you are wearing out. Gods plan is always best, though we do not see it as safe. He will make a way.

This life fades quickly. In the end the only thing that will matter is your relationships. Mostly the one with God.

Does going after this degree bring you peace or does it just seem like the right thing to do financially?

Hello again harmonizer

Let me begin with my admiration on your achievement with getting your masters in music and you ambitions to achieve a doctorate degree .
Now I kinda need your help a bit with this , let us , for a moment , forget about your masters and all that , for , compared to you I am but a layman in this , like I know A D E on guitar and a C on the piano , and there was a time when me and the boys were trying to cut a record with these notes alone , and yes , you may laugh , but so are the guys with the gold records on their penthouse condo's walls in Bell Air .
What I find a bit confusing , is your screen name , harmony , hmm , isn't that the thing where , in order to make any harmony at all , the two adjacent notes have to compliment each other ? What do I know *dunno*

Brother , when I first read your post this morning , I decided not to reply and rather wait till the others respond first , just see if I could be able to better connect the dots here , or better yet maybe you yourself can help me with it .
So far I've gotten as far as adding up your "reasons" of disagreeing with your wife , 1+2+3+4+5+6 = (it hinders ME) = MY degree ! which by the way you were denied to begin with right ? (at least according to your first post ?) "My wife has a crazy faith . She has a very good relationship with God " but she's not agreeing with ME .

Brother listen to me if you will , better yet let me ask you this question first . let us suppose , your wife went against God's advice and took yours instead , and you went ahead and had your Doctorate degree , just like you wanted it to get it , custom made ok ? What's baffling me most is this , how in the world you're coming up with this idea that your Doctorate degree going to get you out of this jam that your Master's degree got you into it to begin with ? I mean as it is , you are not working with a Masters , and even when you do it will not be till when ? August ? let me see , Jan , Feb , ok , more than a couple of months ok ?

An obsession is a thought , that overrides all other thoughts , in other words , it don't make sense ! but yet again it shoves all the other thoughts that do make sense , aside , and like a horse with the blinders on , all it sees is the carrot !
But here's the thing , obsession being a THOUGHT , I can unthink it at any given moment . But , my dear brother prayer is ACTION that changes those thoughts . So far you're doing the thinking , your wife ? She's PRAYING !

In Christ
Luv ya !

harmonizer brother :) its good to hear from ya. I hope your christmas was a blessed one.

As with all major decisions, I believe married folks need to sit down and work it out together. And sometimes it involves sharing your fears and such, so that the other person understands why your view differs from theirs.

So if you havent already, talk it out with your wife as you keep seeking God's will. Dont let your fears and doubts drown out His voice.

Keep moving with your steps brother. See this program thru.

Happy New year to you and yours *hug*

hi harmonizer
Sometimes others can see what is happening when we can't see what is right in front of our own faces.
You are saying things but not seeing them.
harmonizer wrote:I didn't get into the program

Maybe God didn't want you to get into this program. Maybe the timing wasn't right. Maybe it's not the right school.
harmonizer wrote:Now my wife has crazy faith. She has a very good relationship with God.

If you keep thinking that you have to fix this yourself, then you will not agree with your wife if she is hearing something different then what you believe should be happening.
harmonizer wrote:My logic says to go back to my job in August

I see MY LOGIC. You are trying to get things right instead of trusting in God.
harmonizer wrote:She says let's not be like the Israelits and go back to Egypt!
and try and modify our morgage and save our house.
and our dept is HUGE!

If God wants you to move, you don't need your house. And if you don't sell it for top dollar, it can sell quickly so instead of losing it to foreclosure, you can pay your debts and have some left to get started new... possibly school fees...

Lot's going on, more than I can write..
My relationship with God has hit something and I'm trying to figure out what's happining. I'm seeking His face and His explainations.

If you are afraid and distracted, not trusting or believing, you will hit a wall because YOU are trying to figure out what is happening. You even agree that it hinders you alot.

If God wants something to happen, it will happen smoothly. Yes, the enemy will stick obstacles in the way but when you think something and it's not happening while your wife believes something strongly... well...

harmonizer, my suggestion to you is to take quiet time and talk to God.
First, bind the enemy and your own thoughts in Jesus's name and ask forgiveness for your sins.
Ask Him what HE wants you to do. Take the time to listen for an answer which can come as a word, image, thought...
Ask simple yes and no questions to start...
single questions not "Should we move out of state or stay here?"
Ask instead "Do you want us to move to another state?"
Write your questions down beforehand and write the replies you hear or feel.
harmonizer wrote:I trully want us to be able to hear God togther

You and your wife can do it together but both will need to bind your own imaginations and demons in Jesus's name.

And pray for a clear mind, that there are not blockages keeping you from hearing. Ask God for wisdom and guidance.
Don't get upset if you hear answers different then what you expect. God might be doing new things for you and this is the only way He can accomplish that.
And don't forget to thank Him for the things you do have.
