Oct 9 - persecution

Postby Sylvia » Fri Oct 09, 2009 8:33 am

"Blessed are you when people insult you. Persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:11-12)

In our every day walk in this life we constantly come across those who make fun of us because we are Christians. Jesus said rejoice and be glad when this happens. The prophets dealt with much persecution.
In heaven we will get our reward.
But do we always react with rejoicing and gladness?
I know the last time this happened to me I got angry. But the more I prayed about it the more I realized this person doesn't know any better. This person does not know Jesus.
My husbands funeral was filled with unbelievers. Some he worked with, some were his own relatives. That person I got angry with but never said anything to him about it was there and heard the Gospel.
I feel that seeds were planted that day in peoples hearts.
Help us Lord to remember during these times of persecution that you are here with us and help us to turn to you to guide and direct us in how we react and if we should speak out or not.
Love You All

Sylvia, I have been dealing with persecution a lot sis. I actually have begun to learn that the enemy uses people to hurt us, because he wants to hurt God. There is a Spiritual Battle being waged all around us. When someone is persecuting you, take a step back and look around. The enemy is using someone to attack the Spirit within you. So truly they don't attack because they want to do this. They do it because they have been overtaken by one of the enemy's temptations. So we learn to forgive them, for what they do, because they don't truly know what it is they are doing, or even why. But we do...it's just one more Battle closer to the End of the War.

luv ya sis and thanx for this post.
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.
