Fighting the Good Fight of Faith
Hi JCSM, Mac, Pine, All,
Blessings!
Fighting the good fight of faith is every Christian's fight. Faith has many enemies, the foremost being wicked spirits, but our natural fleshly inclinations and believing human teachings about faith can be just as damaging to our walk if we are not careful. We are called into fellowship, (unison, agreement, harmony, one accord), with each other, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (We are called to be one with the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and each other). And we are to be separate from the world, the flesh, and the devil through our love actions and belief in the Bible. Faith in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit works through our belief in the Word of God and that faith works by love.
Who do we love more? Do we love our Heavenly Dad enough to take Him at His Word, or do we love some other saying, those other voices that are not in harmony with His Word? Unfortunately, more often than not, we cave. And why not, with such teachings as "IF God Wills" and "All That Ended with the Disciples" being knocked about the various denominations, we can just say what they say even if what they say is not representative of what Jesus or His disciples said and taught.
I have some tough things to receive from the Lord that I have been praying about and believing for, A Long Time. And this teaching/preaching is just as much for me as it is anyone that wants to build up their faith. I was praying earlier today about one of those things I have been believing for. And the Lord spoke to me and said, "I will say whatever you say." Well, you know the Lord ever lives to make intercession for us...And James tells us we are not going to get anything from the Father, wavering, so what good are teachings that allow us to doubt what the Bible says????? In other words, our words need to be scriptural faith filled words, agreeing with Jesus, the Apostles and Prophets.
I do not know about you, but I am going to keep on knocking, keep on seeking, keep on asking, and keep on believing until I get whatsoever that I have prayed for. What about you?
I say that I believe I have received "whatsoever that I have prayed for" because in so doing I am in agreement with Jesus and the Father scripturally in many places of the New Testament. I particularly like Matt: 18:19-20, where, if any two of us agree as touching anything we should ask , it will be done for us by our Father in Heaven. For where 2 or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Jesus didn't plant doubt in our hearts about issues of prayer. He planted faith. He didn't say, you might receive answers to your prayers if you pray in agreement. In His teaching on faith, in Mark 11:22-24, He said, "Believe that you receive and you shall have...."
In John 14:13, Jesus said, (concerning spiritual works), "And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do.
In John 15:7, Jesus said, (concerning fruit bearing), "You shall ask what you will, and it will be done to you."
I John 3:22. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
I John 5:15. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
I do not know about you, but I look for scriptures in the Bible that build my faith up, and I feed on them. I confess them. I believe them. Doubt is the enemy. Unbelief is the enemy. I know I am not going to get anything wavering. Jesus is my high priest. He ever lives to make intercession for me. He says before the Father what I say. If I confess what he has said in his word in support of my prayer, I love God and my bothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, I know that I am on good ground, and the Father will give me what I ask, because Jesus is right there to make it good.
There are many many more scriptures in the Bible that will build up our faith. What are your favorites? It would be great if you would share them.
Blessings!

hiya Saint and all of yous.
I agree to a point with what you are saying. If we ask anything, according to God's will..it shall be done..peradventure it IS God's will.
I have a friend who prays constantly that she will win the lottery and have millions of dollars.....
I believe God could allow her to win..if it were His will. He also knows the intentions of her heart in asking and believing He will give her a yes answer in this. He also knows whats best for her life.
I think of how Jesus told us to pray. Every time He prayed..He asked, and then said Your will be done. We can and do have faith in the things we pray for..knowing His words, however, what we pray for is not always in line with what His will is for our lives.
Many years ago my family prayed in agreement for an uncle who was ill. We prayed for total healing in his body. We prayed in one accord. My uncle was healed totally..by God calling him to Paradise. Was faith shaken at that point? yes, in some...when they questioned that maybe because they were lacking in faith, my uncle passed away..but he passed to the Paradise of God. That was God's answer...that was His will.
On another occasion, He totally healed another family member. Some had faith He would, and others didnt. It was for His glory that He healed this person. Its also for His glory that He sometimes answers differently in what we are asking for.
James 4:3
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
1 John 5:14
And this is the confidence FAITH that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
There are many people who pray and pray for healing in their bodies...and then think that they are not healed because of their own lack of faith. As Paul prayed for healing...the Lord told him that in his weakness was Christ strong. We have to be very careful. Many whom the Lord chooses not to heal in this life may lose faith and be drawn away from the Lord completely if the Lord chooses to not heal them...in this life. It IS His will that we must seek.
Love you guys sooo much.

The Good Fight of Faith
Blessings!
Hi Momof3, Mac, JCSM, Pine, All,
If it be God's will, yes, but taken in the context of our love for Him and each other, it is His will we receive whatsoever we ask for if we are abiding in His love and Him and He in us, as without faith we cannot please Him.
The faith/if it be God's will controversy has been raging a long time. The "if it be God's will" part needs to go. It isn't a part of our Love walk with the Lord. As it is written, many died in Christ not having received the promises, but we have receive the promises based on a better covenant. We have the promise that if we walk in love we "know" we have our petitions answered, "yes," the key word being "know." The love walk negates the lust argument.
Hebrews 11:13
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
The key for us now in this "love in the body of Christ age" is to all rest in faith, and die in faith if necessary. And instead of fainting when things don't manifest as we think they should, we are going to just keep on rejoicing that we have received what we have asked for. We are not going to confess "if it be God's will" anymore, because we are going to walk in love, loving the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and each other. And "katy-bar-the-door," we have received what we have asked for!!!
Blessings!

God bless you, saint, my brother. Im editing my post here cuz although I understand what you are saying, I will always ask for the Lord's will to be done because He, in His infinate wisdom knows His children's hearts and desires, but knows what we need better than we do. Not my will be done, but His..in all things. Taking our petitions before the Lord is what He wants us to do..having faith that they will be answered, but its not always going to be the answer we want. He sees the whole picture, whereas we only see in part.
Speaking of prayer.....check out this cool study on prayer...its awesome and truly Holy Spirit inspired!!!

Hi saint
I have just finished reading what you said about when we pray that you feel we shouldn't say if it's God's will...but even Jesus said these words:
Matthew 26:36-44 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptaion: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
Saint, our precious Jesus even prayed not His will but His Father's will. We should pray believing in God to give us our hearts desires, but we should not expect us to be given something that is not God's will.
God Bless you.

Context..
Hello All,
Blessings!
The context which I wrote in agrees with I John. If we walk in love we will ask in love, and know we have the petitions we have asked for. We will ask according to His will. That is why.
Love you all, Den[/b]

Yes saint I agree with that, we will receive what we ask for if we ask in love for our Father's will and not our own.
Thanx for responding.
