First job
Can you recall your first job? Did ya hate it? Love it?
My first job was in my uncle's retail store. I LOVED it! I was veryyyy young, maybe 11 or so. Yes i know, it wasnt legal but it wasnt hard work either I used to hang out there anyways, till eventually I started getting paid for it It was in a mall btw... can u imagine my joy?
As soon as i got paid id run over and blow it on somethin silly like colored socks or fake nails
Aww its a fun memory tho

oh I remember this, I was so bless'd felt so grown up too, I applied at a gov't program called,...ceta
It was summer Job and I remember this Job cuz I was so upset and nervous cuz when I applied I had to be 14 to get my working papers and I still did even tho I was 13 ...
but I was bless'd with the job and not just job but I applied for the camp by where we lived and hung out called, Zimmermans Park and they gave it to me, I was like a summer camp counselor and it meant helping the leaders keep eyes on the kids only the kids were my age group and my friends too which was soooo cool we got to go on summer trips for free and gave us bag lunches and was just so fun I would tease them when ever we get ready to go on field trips to get in line and stop talking LOL
but that was all done in Love and sooooo my first job was my Ceta Summer Day Camp and not only did I get to hang out with my friends cuz I knew I miss hangn out with them for the whole summer but they too joined the camp and it was perfect and when it came time for the pay, I remember how much till this day,I made $ 123.00 or maybe it was $129.00 (de brains) every two weeks take home pay ... buttttttt ($).($) back then too that was alot of money especially for this teen...

As a kid, I think we sold lemonade on a neighborhood street. Then we moved, and I caught little creatures and put them in cans and stuff > I think this included some tadpoles in a can with some water, and a salamander, and others. And, I think in order to keep anyone from seeing them, free of charge, put this little zoo up in a pine tree in the back, where I would stand below and guard them until customers came and payed, first, and then I'd lift down each can for a look. But I did take a chance, by leaving them just long enough to put a sign out at the street > about a zoo you could see for maybe five cents if you come out back. But in that little time I was out front, I came back, I think, to discover ones already getting a free look. But then a man we knew said he saw the sign and came in to see the zoo.
Maybe after then, I wanted to go out to Montana to visit my mother's sister and her family. Her husband was a foreman on a ranch. My mother told me to get a bucket with stuff for washing floors and go around to house doors and ask if people would like me to wash their kitchen floor for 25¢, and for waxing 10¢ extra. I made sixty dollars, and my grandmother matched me so I could go by train and have a sleeping compartment for one of the nights on the way. I was expected to stay for the summer.
They let me have a pony to ride, and one time I wrestled with a couple of calves, trying to take them down like the cowboys do. The big one was . . . no way; I learned to quit quick on that one. And the eentsie-beantsie skinny one I could at least make it move its feet. So, I figured, why not tie her. *first*, so she can't move those feetsies, and then just *push* her over? Yeah, I think it was a she baby cow, and that is how I managed to wrestle her down.
So, if this is how I approached wrangling a calf, maybe this is an indication of how I have been relating with women. This could be why I'm still single? You never know what you might learn in these counseling blogs. I mean, first I got them twosies into a small holding circle of the corral, so they couldn't just walk or run away from me, then I got the rope around her ankles or so, and then . . . pushed. And wow look at me, I did it ! ! ! So, with women > do not try to corral them and tie their ankles so they are pushovers > they just might *kick*. Yeah, this *has* happened a number of times. But that calf really was a nicey.
Well, anyway . . . once, I went out looking for a rattlesnake so I could get its rattle. I would never play with a baby rattle, but if the rattle came from a snake . . . for me, this would be more like it. Off I went, but found a bee hive. So, I went back to get some clothes to cover me and a grain feeder which I think goes on a horse's nose and holds grain for it to eat, and it has screening like a kitchen sifter - - - to put over my face to keep the bees away. In case the bees found a way to get to me, I told a hand, I could run to the crik . . . which was at least half a mile away. I considered this distance and the bees having all this time to let me know they were *not* interested in sharing their honey with me, and I thought of how hot it would be in all those extra clothes, during a summer Montana dry season, and then I got lazy about that idea.
And in the dry weather we had a lightning-strike fire that burned fence posts; so we went out to cut and set poles, digging holes in that nice weather. And we had native tribal people with teepees living near the houses, on the ranch. I dropped in on them, at times.

comfy
My first job was when I was 16 detasseling corn in the summer... I only last 3 days I disliked that much exersion in the heat when I'd rather be laying out at the pool. I'm actually kinda surprised my parents let me quit. My sister lasted longer than me, I think a whole summer
That would bring my first "long term" job was my freshman year of college at the Education library. Back when you still had the basic Dewey Decimal system and all card catalogs. Unfortunately I had to quit that job at the end of first semester cuz too much in my schedule for me to make it on time, etc.
Good question Lizzard!

My first job at the age of 13 was babysitting a newborn baby in my home with my mom there. What a way to learn about baby's. I remember one day the baby wouldn't stop crying, and I didn't know what else to do, so I started crying. My mom wasn't there at the time, and I called her and she said to me, well hun you have to stop crying, as the baby is feeding off your emotions. She said if you stop crying so will the baby. Wow what a revelation that was for a 13 year old...if only I had thought of that
Anywhoo....I babysat for several years after that, and then got to have my own precious nene at the age of 19 I am so thankful for my first jobs of babysitting, as it taught me many things about how to care for my own child.....rock them lots, hold them lots, and love them lots
