Stay Focused
Last week one of my brothers here on Oasis offered a challenge:
to surrender to God. This is how I met that challenge.
On last Thursday night I went to work only to be greeted with a problem.
Well, its my job to solve problems. I'm the "go to guy."
This particular night my boss made a judgement call.
He didn't notify or consult with me. It is my responsibility to handle
such calls, not his. His job is to notify me of the problem and I fix it.
I received the information when I got in. I wasn't a happy camper,
stewed inside like a boiling kettle of water.
Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of our challenge.
After about ten minutes of being mad and getting madder,
I surrended my anger and the situation to Him. I do not
like myself when I get angry, all kinds of negative thoughts
run through my mind. I felt like Peter when he was walking
on the water and he lost focus and began to sink. I felt as
though the devil had grabbed a hold of my ankles and was
pulling me down. So I surrendered to God.
I began to slowly settle down, took a few minutes. I began
to feel better. As I had begun to resolve the issue, I began to
sink again. I was starting to simmer when I caught my self
and refocused on Jesus. I quickly began to feel better and
began to have a good night.
After about half an hour passes, I was driving back to the shop,
with my mind blank because I was about done fixing the problem,
I began to think about it some more. This time I had a horrible thought.
I thought "I don't want to feel better, I want to continue to be angry."
When I realized what I had thought, I hated myself for this sin.
Also, I had lost the gift of peace the Lord had been providing me for
the past few months.
Then the Holy Spirit stepped up and said, "Remember, Timothy,"
(He calls me Timothy) "remember Timothy, all that you have learned.
Start with 'the challenge'. Give it up to God! Forgive
the transgressor. The problem has been resolved, it is no more.
Focus on Jesus. Don't allow yourself to be pulled down. Seek
His face. Seek His word. Proclaim victory and receive His blessings."
So I did. I told myself, "Timothy," (I call myself, Timothy) "Timothy,"
I said, "arise to the challenge! Surrender! Focus on Jesus! Be like
Paul when he shook off the snake bite! Be like Peter when he called
for Jesus to save him!" And my mood changed from bitterness to joy
in a matter of seconds. Then the Holy Spirit reminded me to, "Rejoice!"
"I say it again, Rejoice! Think of things good, pure and holy. In all
things be grateful. Sing praises and a new song to God. His peace
he left you. A peace beyond all understanding! Rejoice!"
As I focused and kept the focus, filling my mind with the love of Jesus,
I then noticed, sitting beside me in the truck, were Mercy and Grace.
The rest of the night went very well. I was blessed with His peace
once again! What a *WONDERFUL* feeling!!! I had another wonderful
night, keeping my focus on Jesus and dancing with the Holy Spirit!
I'd like to offer a "Challenge For The Week." Focus. Keep your focus
on Jesus. Make room for no other thought through out the week.
Just keep the focus on Him. Focus.
Peace and Joy be yours this week.
God Bless

Hello Timothy (may I call you Timothy? )
Thank you so much for sharing. Awesome!!!
Isn't it amazing how our flesh wants to be angry and to cling to it? There's power in it -- evil power. But we are children of The Light!!!
II Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith The Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
Woooooohooooooo!
God bless you, Timothy.
Love,
Mack
