For some reason or other, something stopped me after placing the entry in the subject box of new post window, i'm going "why did I stop ?".
my eyes were fixed on the #'s -11of14-. all of a "sudden" it came 2 me something I use in my other 12 stp. prog.(which is very similar to this in many ways) "This is not a matter of #'s , its a way of life, man had been living like this since the beginning of time , they just put numbers on them b'cause we're drunks !! ". "we need to practice ALL of the steps All of the time in ALL our daily life"
The 11th stp of the "other" prog. reads , sought, through prayer and meditation, to improve our concious contact with God, praying only, for the Knowledge of His will for us, and the Power to carry it out.(punctuations r mine) . Something I practice daily upon awakening.
Then I come to the 11th stp here , which shed a whole new Light on the subject , (I told u something was missing) . See, I prayed to God, I stopped drinking ! end of subject ! "I", made contact right ? Now 4 the past 10 yrs I'd been doing just that, u pray u dont drink, all the while the step is calling for the IMPROVEMENT of that contact & not the repetition ! duh? (this is in my early days by the way) so I set out "improving" right ?
Little that I know , I was basically just changing the words around , thinking new way, new prayer HaH ! (no wonder I was stuck) the context was the same, "I" pray, "I" get .

John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of TRUTH, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of me ...
John 14:16-18
And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter ...

Yeah, you need a LAWYER vahn !

(at this point I'd like to intercede, this is one way I can talk to myself w/o people thinking I'd gone over the edge, & lock me up somewhere)
No matter how much u tell'em "I was talking in SPIRIT", knowing I'm alcoholic they interpret spirit difftly !

Another reason I need a my LAWYER !

All this time I'd been going around when anyone would say Im Jesus Christ, I'd believe'em (what do I know ?) but I also say "Let's walk by this pool a minute" (just 2 see if u can walk ON it)

Talk to the COMFORTER the way I know how , He talks to the Father the way THEY do, My job is to seek not to find (that's His job)

Vahn, now that's amazing. To hear that you thought you knew but you didn't really know. See God doesn't want us to become sideswipped by our thoughts on things, instead He wants to continually reveal Truth to us. It's us that tend to be nearsighted and not grasp all of what He is showing us. We get a taste of the good stuff and say ok, I'll stay here instead of going on to the main course and actually getting to dessert.

I had never realized how important it was to grow either. When I came to oasis, it just happened. Then looking back, I realized how stuck I was.
