Called to Walk in Darkness-Here I Am, Send Me
I'm posting tonight's program at the request of several who attended. May you receive a blessing from reading what the Lord laid on my heart to share tonight in Here I Am, Send Me.
Sometimes God will call some of His servants to step into the darkness to reach a soul or even a few souls. Now this calling can be a very dangerous calling as you have to be totally in tune with the Holy Spirit lest you get caught up in the darkness. This means leaving our comfort zone and loosing our level of security to reach these souls. Now this program is not to scare you into refusing to answer if God ever calls you to work in this realm, but to prepare you to be able to reach into this realm to pull out these souls if He asks. But here's the most important aspect to remember, Jesus will be with you all the way once you put on your armour.
Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Something you have to be aware of when walking in the dark realms reaching out to souls is to check your virtue frequently. Virtue is the power of God working in and through you. If your virtue gets low you need to step out and refresh immediately. When you are working with souls in this dark realm your virtue is going to be used at a fast and furious rate. It can even be zapped so quickly that it leaves you exhausted and overwhelmed, that's when you have to reach deep and call on Him to bring you to a stopping point so you can rest. Don't be afraid to stop and rest either. There are times that when you are working in this realm that you will feel the need to stay there in fear of loosing the soul or souls you are working with. Just remember Trust in the Lord and He will hold those souls in wait of your return. They will be looking forward to your return, so when God says rest then do so.
Now some of you might remember that Jonah was sent by God into the darkness.
Jonah 1:1-2 Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
This was a wicked city in which God sent Jonah to cry out against them. In fact it was so wicked Jonah was afraid and fled at first. When one is called to step into the darkness it can be intimidating as well. That's what Satan would try and have us to be .intimidated so we won't answer the Lord's call. To try and keep us away from taking this step. Satan intimidated Jonah at first, but we can learn from Jonah and be prepared in knowing that if God sends us to it, He's gonna see us through it.
Now what are some things you will face when you step into the darkness to reach these souls? Persecution, affliction, tribulation, being shunned and so much more. Definitely not going to be an easy journey. But what can we learn from Paul in this matter? To prove ourselves as ministers before the Lord in all things, and if we are called then we will have the word of truth, power of God and armour of righteousness to take with us.
II Corinthians 6:4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, II Corinthians 6:5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; II Corinthians 6:6 By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, II Corinthians 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, II Corinthians 6:8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; II Corinthians 6:9 As unknown and yet well known; as dying and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; II Corinthians 6:10 As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
Now think of this, when we are walking into this realm we have to be able to relate to these souls. How do we do that? By becoming a chameleon. Readily able to adapt and change to each new situation these souls might throw in our direction. Ultimately it's not about us but to grab them out of darkness. So we may have to sacrifice much becoming poor but yet being rich as we have something very valuable to offer to these souls. His name being Jesus of course.
Now as we know our main focus when answering the Lord's call to walk into the path of the wicked is to share His love and forgiveness for them. This is probably the most difficult part, as you have to build trust with the person you are ministering to. In order to do this, you are going to have to be very patient and spend a lot of time with this soul. Time that many of us aren't always willing to sacrifice, but a friend once told me give this lost soul as much time as you have wanted the Lord to give you over the years. This was some of the best advice to receive, as time is what brings change. Sometimes the changes come quickly and almost immediately, but other times change can take what seems to us to be a very long time. To God time is like one day being 1000 years and 1000 years is like being one day. Everything happening in God's timing happens at just the right time. That's why you can't let Satan begin to whisper to you and tell you lies that you aren't reaching this soul or that you can't do this. If you are allowing God to work through you when He calls, then He will reach into the darkness that you are standing in, and shine a LIGHT to all those who can hear. And then you will see that your walk into this dark realm has profited for the Lord's glory and a soul will find Him and the angels will rejoice.
Answer the Lord's call, allow Him to do great things through you and don't be afraid of the dark, be compassionate for those who live in the dark. Allow God to reach into that darkness through you, and pull a lost soul from the firery flames they are currently going to face. Help set the world on fire for Jesus, and not watch a soul set on fire instead.
