Emotion Management.....Building Bridges....(Are you drowning
Lord, turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are multiplied; bring me out of my distresses. Father, My eyes are ever toward You, for You will pluck my feet out of the net. Unto You, O Lord, do I bring my life. In Jesus name, amen.
When youre weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
Im on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
When youre down and out,
When youre on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
Im sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind. (Bridge over Troubled Water....Simon And Garfunkel)
Do you need a bridge? Someone to care enough to listen, really listen? Someone who'll not run when you're in trouble.
Someone who likes to be with you....is glad you exist....just because. Not because you're smart, funny, look good, can cook or will babysit. They don't care if you can do sports, dance, run a mile, or workout. It's nothing to them whether you work a great job, own a nice car, or your own house.
They just care about YOU. They want to hear how you are....even if you are not doing well....for the nth day in a row. They won't sigh, roll their eyes or tell you to shake it off. They won't offer empty words. They'll CARE.
Do people like this exist? People who realize you don't want them to fix it all in one sitting, in one week or even one month. Maybe not fix it....just bridge the gap between your drowning in a situation and the dry land of "I'm here."
Believe it or not, they do exist. There are people willing to be a bridge between someone's troubled waters and God's comfort. And if you don't think God cares about your afflictions and sufferings, He does.
He provides bridges from the weary world to His comfort through people He has sent to serve Him as those bridges. The hard part is.....
Spanning the gap. Sometimes we're afraid to reach out. We might be rejected...again. No matter if we are the drowning victim or the bridge, we have fears to overcome in reaching for another human being.
But, what do we really have to lose? If we believe God is in this, let's show we believe. Today I told someone, "You can't just live on faith."
The minute it was out of my mouth I realized what I had said. YES! You can! In fact, that is exactly how we LIVE. Without faith, there is only fear. That's NOT living.
So let's put our fears away and share how we are feeling, what we are going through---with no condemnation for feeling bad or not being 'happy' all the time. Let's speak freely....and if you hear Him calling you to be someone's bridge....build a friendship. Save a drowning person.
