The Express Image of Christ

Postby Domo1364 » Sat Apr 26, 2008 10:16 pm

If we are not seeing ourselves as God says we are, then we are taking an image of what others think of us. Deuteronomy 4:16 says so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourself an ungodly image. We may not be making physical statues out of gold, but if we don't have the image that God has of us, then we will not experience the fullness of blessings Christ died to give us. There are a good number of scriptures concerning our image. Genesis 1:26 God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion. Colossians 1:27 To whom God was pleased to make known how great for the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ within and among you, the Hope of [realizing the] glory. John 17:21That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me. So, we are the express image of Christ on the Earth. One definition of Idol is any person or thing regarded with blind admiration, adoration, or devotion. If we believe we are what others say about us, then we are not seeing ourselves as God does. We start to believe the lies that have been told to us, or even by us, and that picture, that is contrary to the one God has of us, is formed on the inside of us by focusing on it with a sort of devotion. He created Man, male and female. He created us, and only us, in His Image and Likeness. That means He gave us the ability to create just as He created. We are His co-creators therefore. Hebrews 1:3 He is the radiance of His glory, the exact expression of His nature, and upholds the universe by His all-powerful word. Every Christian is seen by God as being in Christ.

Amen Domo, this is such a difficult thing to do, is look in the mirror and see God's beautiful creation in us. Especially when we are going through difficult times. So glad you shared those words of hope.
