Because you will not receive a reward from your Father in Heaven. Giving in private, allows God to reward us. Giving openly for all to see, brings glory from men instead.

Absalom, King David's 3rd son, was estranged from his father after having waged war against King David. Joab, nephew of King David, and cousin to Absalom, was the Commander of King David's army. Joab knew Absalom couldn't be trusted, but Joab also had selfish ambition, himself. Basically, Joab prevented Absalom from meeting with his father, King David, face to face, and eventually refused to respond to Absalom's requests, altogether. This infuriated Absalom, so he ordered his servants to set fire to Joab's field.

The Bible says that Jacob wrestled with a man. (See Genesis 32:1-32) It is a great story and a blessing to meditate on.

In the account shared in The Bible, Jacob says he was face to face with God. How glorious is that? Hallelujah!!!
I believe Jacob was wrestling with Jesus, because Jesus is God in the flesh.

The Bible states in the 25th verse: 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.


New Question: Right after Jesus was born, Joseph and Mary took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to The Lord. Who was it that took baby Jesus up in his arms and blessed God?

Some Bible translations say plans instead of thoughts, but they are similar. God wants us to have peace and good things not bad.
