Those pesky things called emotions-what's your "go to"?
I must be one of the most emotional souls in the world. Sometimes I let my emotions get the best of me. Battling my emotions can be difficult, but over the years I have found a "go to" for finding relief in an emotional moment. My "go to" is to sing. I usually sing Amazing Grace as this song soothes me and reminds me of why I exist....for God's glory.
What is your "go to" when you find your emotions running rampant?

Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

That is a wonderful "go to."
I don't cry often. But I get nervous. I remember God gave me this to help me feel when something isn 't right. But then my nerves get itchy when I go to someones house, when I go to the store some times, when I'm walking the dogs and another dog comes up. One of my dogs is very protective. I get nervous when the phone rings. Ahhhhhh I"m to nervous of a person! I find the best thing for me is to go to what has God said about me. He says I'm loved with an ever lasting love! He says I'm forgiven of every single sin. I'm sinless! I'm loved! I can do no wrong in Gods eyes. Oh it helps so much. I need to memorize more verses on what God says about me.
Thanks mlg. Love ya

they both seem like great emotional "go-tos" and ones I need to start putting into practice instead of less healthier alternatives. the singing idea has strong appeal right now

Hi Liv
It's nice to meet you.
Some things I've learned is to just watch my emotion and allow it to happen. Accepting that it's an emotion and will pass.
Hope this helps.

Re: Those pesky things called emotions-what's your "go to"?
For me it depends on what the emotion is and what the cause is.
If it is anger, getting busy and doing something else can help...generally after I have hit something (not someone, ). The hitting just allows all the pent up energy out and allows me to go past that.
Being busy is also a good antidote for fear or worry. Distraction (reading a book or watching a movie or the like) can help with those or even some sadness.
I have found an herbal supplement that helps as well. I rarely take it, but knowing it is there is nice.
The ones I find hardest to "handle" are the emotions that come with feeling powerless, frustrated, or overwhelmed. I haven't yet found anything healthy that consistently works with them.

Hi Kimby,
I tried posting this once, but somehow it deleted instead.
The emotions of feeling powerless, overwhelmed and frustrated are powerful ones. I pray that God will provide you an outlet to help comfort you when these emotions come upon you.
It's good to see you kimby.
Take care

Music also helps me out a TON. But sometimes I need to distract myself with a game when I'm feeling down, or a guided relaxation thing when I'm feeling anxious.

What kinds of games do you enjoy that help you get your mind off things?

If I have people to play with, usually Dungeons and Dragons or Magic: The Gathering. Otherwise it's games like Fable and Dragon Age.
