Re: Hello
Abuse causes isolation. And isolation is very damaging. People who are hurt by others get a big dose of Shame and Blame. But Jesus died to take away the shame and the blame.
I have been reading and talking to people for a while - reading about childhood abuse and what happens. I like the site outofthefog.net For reading. But this is the place for talking. And if you read about the abuse, the recommended treatment is talk therapy.
I also recommend reading one Bible verse twice a day. Or the same one twice a day. You can go to Biblegateway or lots of other sites and get a Bible verse. That way you get one that is more likely to speak to you. And praying twice a day, "God, please help me." Is a good prayer. The Lord's prayer is a good prayer. Lots of good prayers.
cccc on here - got to counseling on the site map - is excellent. But I find that when it gets to forgiveness - a lot of hurt people just can't handle it.
Forgiveness is letting go. Forgiveness is not going to coffee with the person who hurt you. Sometimes that would be a very bad idea. On rare occasions, God will tell you that you need to face your abuser. Rare occasions. If you don't have a peaceful but strong inclination to do that - don't do it. If it panics you - then probably it isn't God telling you to do it. When God speaks, there is peace - and you Know it. You don't wonder - you KNOW.
Getting better require talking - lots of talking. And you do deserve to get better. If you went to the hospital with a broken arm, you wouldn't leave without treatment because you felt guilty that other people had heart attacks and severed limbs. You would just wait your turn and get treated. But emotionally, people tend to look at other people with more visible wounds and use that as an excuse to not get help. It isn't an excuse. It is a common trick of the devil is what it is. If you hurt, you need to get help. If your ankle is sprained, you usually get help. If your arm is broken, you certainly do. What happened to other people doesn't matter. If you need help, you get help.
Lots of people will cut because it makes the hurt show. But then they feel stupid about it. And they hide the scars. The hurt is real. The person knows the hurt is real. But cutting doesnt' solve anythign - talking and reading does. But you have to talk. Just reading won't do it.
I recommend you start cccc. And if you get overwhelmed, that you keep posting in a journal anyway. If the journal seems to public, then you can write someone who has answered your first few posts and sounds loving, or you can write me.
I write back every day unless I've told you in advance that I can't.
It is likely good to write several people. Maybe even four or so. Because talking it out and learning that the way you feel is real and valid is important.
God bless you. God loves you.
PS. Many Christians profess to giving it to God and he will heal you instantly. This is as ridiculous as saying that about an arm with a bone sticking out of the skin. Do give it to God. But also treat the wound. The wound has to be treated. And, by the way, crying and anger are both parts of getting well. You need to go through the grief and the anger - not stay there forever - but pass through them. And you may need to be angry for weeks. That is okay. Years is not okay. But weeks is.
