I love home-made bread. I make lots of it.I love the feel of the dough, the smell of baking goodness, and the taste of a pure product. It' began as a health choice (ever read a store bread label?), and has become an obsession and a ministry. Ever notice that about a ministry? It's almost always an obsession turned Jesus-ward.

Think bread is too funny a thing for God to use as a ministry? I know this about Him: He will use whatever He can to touch your life. Usually something important to you. A gift you have, like....baking bread
He will also use the same thing to teach a person about themselves, and bring them to realizations that shed light on problems and hidden motives.

I have seen the light. It has shone on my tendency to judge through assumption, my tamped down emotions I thought were gone (they never leave, I constantlyhave to patrol and let the Holy Spirit school them, as I should), and my "mememe" disposition.

A ministry is about giving, at some cost to oneself. It does not benefit self, it benefits thers. Discipleship is not easy, nor was it intended to be. A ministry always points to Jesus.

So while I enjoy my bread, the main point of it is that others enjoy it, and further, others besides them reap from it.A double bread blessing, I call it.

But it's even more than that to me. Bread is a symbol of love, fellowship, and something holy being passed around...I pray over each baking, I send it out and know the Holy Spirit will multiply and expand wherever He sees fit.

I told Pine i would try to post some pics, (if I remember how), and she promised to drool. :D If it doesn't happen, I'll keep working on it!

Do you love toast? Me too! Crispy, buttery, warm and delicious--even more so when it's home made bread.
This is a raisin-cinnamon swirl loaf, one of my favorites for toast.(Makes yummy french toast too!)
Toast and tea and the Word. Doesn't get any better.

Isn't it funny how you can take something so simple- flour and water- and make something so wonderful.
God does that on a grander scale.
He takes the basic elements in us and performs wonders....

Funny how He chose the most basic of foods to represent the Bread of Life.
He can do anything.
Look what He did with- bread.

My first thoughts go to the children of Israel in the wilderness, Ezekiel, and the Last Supper....
He connected His story with bread....physical bread into spiritual Bread.
Amazing.

Eat some good bread today!

This is my first attempt at challah- a traditional jewish bread. I'm not jewish, but I don't think you have to be to appreciate the beauty and taste of this bread. (it's BREAD! that's enough for me :D )



I'm practicing making this bread for Thanksgiving. It has a slightly sweet taste and is soft inside. I have to work on my braiding for sure. I love trying new things. The dough is an easy 'mixer does it' kind of thing, but it took all day to raise. I can be patient . It was good right out of the oven, and this morning for toast. I'm thinking when it's older, it will be great french toast material.
