I have to overcome this

Postby rk7800 » Tue Sep 18, 2012 12:05 am

This is the my first post here at Oasis and I really hope I can find help and that I find somebody that can understand where I am at.

I have been a Christian since I was in grade school and have been reintroduced to full time service to the Lord 10 years ago. I have a big problem though. I easily anger. I take things very personally which makes me mad or the other side is very depressed.

I can't exactly pinpoint the cause. I know my mom put me in anger management classes in HS after my parents divorced but I thought I had worked through that. Now, I just feel like my world is crashing around me and if I don't do something, I might lose it all.

My husband and I have been youth leaders at our church for 2 years now starting the third. This is a volunteer position as my husband doesn't have a degree but we both love teenagers and love working with them. A lot of things have happened this last year and I have been offended by people, which made me mad. I have apologized for the things I have done and now I need a course to control future anger. My husband has no chance of ever being hired unless I figure out why I get angry and how to control it. I am ruining his life, I am ruining my family I feel right now and I need help fast. I am hoping this 14 day program will give me the fresh start I need.

Thank you for letting me post here and I look forward to developing relationships with you.

Why do you feel that your life is out of control? What dream did you give up? What childhood hurt is unresolved?

The more life is or was out of control, the more we want to have control. Anger can be a result of failing to get the control we desire.

The Christian walk is relinquishing control. Giving it to God. Letting go.

In order to do that effectively, you need to realize what you gave up or were forced to give up that caused you such pain that you need to control.

It is important that you realize why. It seems like we could just give this vague it to God and he would just ake it. But I have found that that doesn't usually work.

What do you resent? What have you resented? Did you want to be a doctor but people told you you couldn't? DId you want to be a pilot? Or travel? Did you have children younger than you wished? Do you feel you have to live your whole life as you husband's accessory?

I am guessing. Giving examples so that maybe you can find the cause of your anger. Once you find it. You can look at it and look at you.

Do NOT say it isn't important. If you do, the anger will continue. No matter how trivial and seemingly stupid it is, if it hurts your heart you need to speak up about it. '

And THEN you can give it to God.

God bless you. Hugs.

Hello RK7800 :)

God bless you this day, and welcome to Christianity Oasis.

I'm so glad you have started the 14 Day CCCC Study. It is an awesome study, and I do believe and have high hopes for you that you are going to be blessed by it, as it is Holy Spirit inspired and leans heavily on the Word of God.

Jesus is The Word, The Word is Truth, and the Truth will set you free. Thank You Jesus!!!

So, be hopeful, and embrace the study and all the truths presented in the study -- meditate on the scriptures presented in the study and keep you spiritual eyes and ears, as well as your heart, open to The Lord. He loves you so very much.

God bless and keep you, RK7800.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack
