What does this mean?
What does If God is for you who could be against you mean as the verse is stated in Romans. The past five years I've had nothing but problems with friends and at work. This is not to say that things were going just great before this. However, for that past five years things have been especially trying with people that are supposed to be friends and at work. It seems like no matter what I do I can't straighten things out I can't. I haven't been mean to these individuals for them to act this way but I don't think I've ever made so many enemies in my life. Also after being mean to me things seem to work out for them so they seem like they are being rewarded it seems for being mean to me. I'm not really sure what is going on here but I am getting very discouraged. Also I'm not a high school student. I'm in my forties I know that people can go through a rough time but I'm not seeing anything positive I'm just seeing people and problems come against me. Is this some kind of test? Well I wish someone could tell me what is going on.

Re: What does this mean?
There are actually several ways you can take this verse.
One way is, "If God is for you, then what else matters?"
Another way is, "If you are on God's course, then it all will be worked out for good."
Romans 8:28 says this as well.
But there is a verse in Malachi that says, "God made everything, including the materials for the weapon being used against you."
You have to realize that there is free will. You can operate in the realm of free will - but that is Satan's realm. Satan manipulates free will all over the place. Or you can operate in the spiritual realm.
The spiritual realm means following God because He is God and you love him. Not because of the results you get - but just because right is right and you wish to serve.
The astonishing thing is that the more you get to the point of letting everything else go, and having really pure motives, the more God blesses you. The more you are keeping score and working hard, and trying to do it yourself, and looking at how the people who offend you are prospering, the more Satan can manipulate your free will and cause events to go against you.
I have found that when I stub my toe or something, frequently that kind of thing will continue until I really start praising God loudly every time it does. I will go and sit in the bathroom to praise if I need to do so. But then it stops.
There is a place of struggling and working and trying. And there is a place of peace. When you get to the place of peace FIRST, then all the things that you still care about that you wanted when you were struggling tend to come together. But you can't go to that place of peace with the motive of receiving. You get there because it is good and right and you want to serve.
Sounds like something out of an old play doesn't it? There are a lot of Biblical themes in old plays.
hugs. I know it is tough. It may help to realize that God is trying to grow you. To make you a better person. And milk and cookies don't do that. Or race cars and mansions either.
