My dad lived in an abusive home. Then spent most of his growing up years in an orphanage. Despite all this with in his heart he truly wanted more for his children than what he had. He wanted to be a good dad and a good husband. I could see him beating himself up inside when he failed.
I can't wait to get to know him again. I can't wait for that hug. The one that says I love you with all my heart and I'm never letting you go.

I thought I'd share my dads favorite verse.
The few years we were very close I would go to his house in the mornings and make him a pot of coffee, breakfast and read to him from the bible.
One day when reading 1 Thessalonians 4 he stood up, which in his condition if caused him to stand it was serious. Verse 11 and 12 said something to him. I don't know if I'll ever understand the depth of why.
Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Re: Dads
We use to watch All In The Family Together.
Though I knew it as the Archie Bunker show.
I would go to the door and yell at the top of my lungs, "Archie is ooooooooooooooooooooooon!" No matter what dad was doing he'd stop and come watch it with me and my sisters. If I was outside one of my sisters would yell for us, "Archie is ooooooooooooooooooooooooon!"
I remember once I was watching dad work on the farm and he stopped and said, "Should we go watch Archie and finish this later. Your sister will be disappointed if we don't watch it with her."
I wonder why we chose Archie Bunker or I mean All In The Family as a family show.

A memory of my Father it was my 4th birthday and my older brothers 5th birthday we are the same age for a week but we are a year appart.
Our Father bought my brother a big wheel and he got me a baby stroller for my babay doll i wanted a babay buggy so i could push my babay around like my mother pushed my babay brother around in she would not let me push my brother around in his.

Well why in the world wouldn't mom let you push your brother around in his stroller. I'm sure he would of enjoyed the ride.
Thanks for sharing! I like the pics. I remember playing with a stroller just like that as a kid.

Re: Dads
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my wonderful DAD
He is a humble, down to earth and incredibly funny wonderfulness of a daddy. He's 76 now and may not be with us for more than a year or so. I tell him I love him and sent him a poem recently recalling some of the things he did for me as a child, including - building me a Wendy house ( we didn't have much money so he built lots of things with wood and other materials discarded by others) He made a wooden doll's cot painted pale blue. It was a good one and the side went down He plays silly games up to this day. If they're at an airport delayed, he entertains the children with simple magic tricks and they call him 'Grandad'. He gave me a love for funny poetry and is always very proud of me for anything he can think of
One of the most amazing thing I have learned from my Dad is that laughter can make anything better! If I start telling him about my woes, or the world's woes, he makes some funny comment and we just laugh like crazy and then everything looks much better. I LOVE him for that - he's so special.
I just want to add, please always tell your Dad, your children, whoever you love, that you love them so much EVERY SINGLE day.
Do you know, when I cross the road with my Dad, (bearing in mind that I'm 52 years old now), he firmly holds my hand and makes sure I'm crossing safely. Oh Dad Can you tell I love my Dad??? I think it has helped me to hold my heavenly Father's hand going along life's tricky motorways
