Darkness surrounds
Nothing seen
Soul in torment
As knowledge gained
Of that hidden within
Demons in waiting
Ready for moment
When god of world
Commands their deeds
All love to kill

Darkness surrounds
Yet will I praise
Him who commands
Mighty angels near
Protecting from ruin
Soul so weak
In praise does come
Strength flowing down
From Him above
Who loves all below


Darkness surrounds
Yet praise flows out
Consuming shadows
In light of love
Revealing all within
Goodness displayed
In darkness’s wake
Demons screech
As praise torments
Their souls of evil

Darkness no longer now
Envelops me whole
Praise did bring day
As soul draws nearer
To Jehovah Shalom
In His presence now
My spirit does dwell
No matter the evil
When darkness covers
Yet will I praise
