I Believe God Can! BUT Do I Believe He Will?

Postby Smiles » Sat Sep 18, 2010 11:43 am

In Acts 12, the church is being persecuted and many Christian leaders are being put to death. Peter is arrested and is set to also be executed. The church is deeply troubled to the point that they call a prayer meeting. They gather together in fear behind locked doors and pray for a miracle. They pray that God will spare Peter. That his life will be saved and that he'll be released from prison. They know that God is the God of miracles. They've walked with Jesus; they've seen the miracles firsthand. They KNOW THAT GOD CAN!!!

And yes, God does. He sends an angel to lead Peter out of the prison. It's a miracle! God is answering the prayers of the church. BUT ..When the church was praying. When they KNEW GOD COULD, did they know that GOD WOULD?

Acts 12 And Peter went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. 13Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door. 14When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!" 15"You're out of your mind," they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, "It must be his angel." 16But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

Indeed, they BELIEVED THAT HE COULD, but they obviously did not BELIEVE THAT HE WOULD

You know what, I also wonder if another reason is because we are unable to fully comprehend the depths of God's love for us.
