My chain of sins
are holding me tight
each link represents
A painful moment, a lost fight

A battle within
Between darkness and light
Should i do it my way
Or do it right?

Everytime I try to break free
The chains seem to close in
Its the devil adding temptation
To keep me locked in my sin

I reach a point
Where i feel like I'll never be free
Doubts kick in
Why is God doing this to me?

Every night I cry out to God
But I can't feel him there
"C'mon God help me
This isn't fair!"

Finally one day
Something snaps
God is present
And he fills the empty gaps

The gaps were things
that had cracked my heart
Confused me
And pulled me apart

God was there
With his shining light
And told me
It wasn't me who had to win the fight

A picture
A powerful word
Finally after all this time
God's voice was heard

My chains were gripping me
Tighter and tighter
But you know what?
My God was and is mightier

He ripped away
The chains of my sin
He healed my heart
And restored me within

I now know it isn't
My battle to fight
I just have to take God's hand
And step into the light
