Anxiety

Postby soul » Thu Jun 03, 2010 1:28 pm

Hi,

I've struggled with anxiety for about 10 years now. The anxiety I get is not acute as in panic attacks, but is a dull pain in mt brain that can feel like a fire or a worm gnawing on my brains. I was diagnosed with major depression and generalized anxiety disorder. They put me on over a dozen meds over the years from anti-psychotics to tranquilizers. I became addicted to the tranquilizers after a very short time.

Recently God has been helping me by getting me off all my meds and giving me a coping mechanism for the anxiety. I block out all thoughts and focus only on my surroundings and wait killing any thoughts that try and enter my mind. This often works but is a battle as it comes backs and goes away over and over. Distractions also help. I find the worst is when I am alone with nobody to talk to.

God is good and is helping me to recover without meds finally. I'm not saying to quit your meds though. I'm just saying what He is doing for me. There was a time that without them I didn't have the coping ability and couldn't make it, but God is setting me free and the more times I can conquer anxiety without meds the stronger I feel.

Welcome Soul to Christianity Oasis!

God is good isn't He. :)

Sorry to hear you have been struggling with depression, anxiety and stuff. That can be so hard at times. Awesome though the Lord is setting you free from these things. He is able to take hold of us and gently draw us to Him, in doing so those chains of depression, anxiety, meds, whatever they are begin breaking lose and we are set free. Takes time, keep up the good work and thank you for the encouragement. :)

Lord Bless you Soul

Hi, I know what your feeling with the anxiety. I myself had problems with it since I could remember. I never did anything about it. A year ago I had a stress related breakdown or mental breakdown. Doctor told me that going this long with anxiety the breakdown was surely going to happen. Add a bunch of stress and bam your out. The great thing though is that you can get rid of it. Alot has to do with your physical body. Explore your diet, you might even want to go to a dietician and doctor to get blood tested for sugar, salt levels, triglycerides. For me and most who suffer from anxiety, caffeine is a killer. I love coffee but had to switch to decaf. Not just that, be careful of fast food(I mean, whats in that stuff anyway), your intake of salt and sugar may be way off, or you could have certain food allergys. These are just some examples. Major thing get checked out and educated about your diet. I changed mine for the better and the anxiety is gone.

With much care,
Jay

Thanks for the tips everyone. I do drink wayyyyy to much soda. Lots of times I get anxiety for apparently no reason at all. Maybe that's why. I'm a habitual soda drinker. I think I will cut down to 1 can a day and see if that helps. Thanks everyone!

Dear Soul,

Hello. :) You have been through a lot dear one, and still have struggles to face, more then you realize I'm sure, as do most of us. But I know and have complete faith that God is working in your life and HE will help you overcome all the obstacles. He has such great plans for you in the works and doors are just beginning to open for you. I am so proud of you and all you have already endured and made it through, so please don't give up, not on yourself, and definitely not on Him. Your new life is just beginning and that light is just starting to shine brighter and brighter for you each day. Take a hold of His hand and get ready for the ride of a lifetime. *hug*

Have a blessed day and evening in the Lord.

Sincerely,

Breezy

Dear Soul,

I still ask the Lord daily why it is that he has blessed me with your presence in my life because I feel so undeserving of it, but for some reason He has had us cross paths. So for however long He wants us to remain in each others lives, I will be here for you. Just as I am here for all those that want me to be in their lives.

Please never feel that you have no purpose, no reason to exist, because I know you were created by Him, to serve Him. He will show you the way that He wants you to venture towards on this journey. Trust and He will lead you. Have hope and have faith always in Him. He does hear your prayers, and He does answer them according to His timing and His will. He knows what is best for us, when we don't. Place it all before Him, lay it all at His feet and your burdens will be less to carry.

Have a blessed day and evening in the Lord.

Sincerely,

Breezy *hug*

Dear Soul,

I know a few things have been going on lately that have you struggling, but please know I haven't given up on what the Lord has in store for you. Life many times is full on one step forwards and 5 steps backwards, but if we hang onto His strength, He will pull us through. My heart hurts when you hurt because I know your pain. I know what it is like to have fears run your life, I have been there. But God found me a path out of that, and I know He too is there working in your life finding that direction for you as well. You will be free, I have faith in you, and I KNOW He is within you. I have more faith in knowing that He is with you, and I believe completely in Him and His plans for us in our lives.

I am always here to listen when you need it. *hug*

Have a blessed day and evening in the Lord.

Sincerely,

Breezy
