On that day, he warns, the earth will be consumed. Peter assures us that this is not mere speculation; it is certain and imminent. He then asks the crucial question that applies to each generation: What kind of persons ought you to be?

You know , one does not even have to go to Scripture to realize the importance of "being ready" to take action . Even the Boy Scouts (by the way , do they exist anymore ?) , prepare us for that , I don't know about anyone else , while my grandfather was preparing me on the Spiritual front , the scouts were telling me to ALWAYS , Be Prepared , my coach was always training me for "The Big One" , the military told me "you sleep with your rifle" on and on ... at the meantime , I'm going "Why ? ... why ? .. prepare for what ? ... when ?" The only answer I got was " When you hear the word "GO" ... You JUMP " ... But , of course I have to have another question for that too right ? Something like reeaal pro--foouundd , as in "Hear "GO" ? By whom ?? "

Yeah .. Didn't even ask "How high !! "
That is .. Finally ! Cause having learnt my lesson , the hard way (as usual) . I THOUGHT I was ready , ITHOUGHT I was willing to jump , I THOUGHT I WOULD do it "ON COMMAND" , and you know what ? I even said "Yes ! Here I am . Send me , I'll be right there ! ... AFTER I finish this !! " Hmm .

When our Lord says "Jump" You might even be too late by the time you finish asking "How High?"
