Acceptance
At the age of 10,
I hate what I see.
As I look in the mirror,
I fall to my knees.
As tears roll down my scrawny face,
I tell myself how I'm such a disgrace.
I don't understand why nobody likes me,
I get treated less than a human being.
I think to myself, if I could just disappear,
I wouldn't have to deal with this fear.
Fear of being left, abandoned, and abused,
After all, I was only loved when being used.
As I hear my alarm buzz,
I realize what time it was.
I hurried about getting my books,
so I can run to school and receive dirty looks.
On the playground, a group of kids came,
they loved to play with me but never knew my name.
Their games were evil, at least when with me,
they would grab me by my arms and tell the nurse I peed.
I knew I wasn't accepted, I didn't belong,
I just couldn't figure out what I did wrong.
As I got older, about nineteen,
I went to a home where I was actually seen.
At this home, I learned about my savior,
where I received love in many different flavors.
I learned about a God who cared for me,
When I let Him in my heart, He set me free.
I learned that acceptance don't come from man,
well, its my choice, it actually can.
But now its a choice I make everyday,
to not crave approval from man in any way.
Gods word says I am loved,
that im treasured by God above.
He blesses me when I pray,
and wants me hear me all day.
He doesn't tell me to be sillent,
and the joy I feel now is so vibrant.
God doesn't treat me like a nobody,
instead, He treats me like a special somebody.
I can give my worries and troubles to Him,
When I do that, my pain grows dim.
Im thankful that Im finally accepted,
not only that, but also blessed.
