Christianity Oasis Forum

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

Pornography period can be very dangerous. It can not only harm you, but it can harm others as well, especially if you are married. I remember how my ex would dabble in watching pornography, and how it would hurt me that he did these things. It became an addiction to him, and therefore I no longer became "attractive" to him. Hence he cheated on me soon after, ending our marriage forever.

When we lust after ourself, then it can become dangerous to the point that when we do find our soulmate they will not be pleasing to us sexually because we have already set standards by our own self fullfilment, and will want them to please us the same...It's just a really deadly cylce all the way around....so if you have an addiction to this type of thing...know there is help....begin by putting a blocker on your computer, removing any videos etc from your computer or your home...remove the temptation from your home period...get out! Run away from it!

Hey Skubby
Thanks for sharing. I've fell to the temptaion of pornagraphy. I'm thankful for the grace of God that he is helping me overcome this. I also have a filter on my computer that for now is keeping that stuff away from me. I hope to be brought totally out of this with Gods help. I'm thankful that there are others that are going through the same thing as I am.

This is sooooo true...at 12 years old I found myself looking at porn and it was exciting. Then after watching it for a few months I started copying what I learned from porn on men. Six years later I am now 18 and still addicted and have a sex addiction of my own. I started watching gang bangs in porn and now I do them, I never thought I would be that girl. But, sadly I was wrong. Its a slow fade when you give yourself away.

True that skrubby.

When I came to this forum back in October of 2009, I was deep into the Internet Porn thing. I crashed a few computers and Found myself staying up all night long looking at all the porn that is out there. I found myself only using my computer for that purpose. It has been a battle for me to stay away from the EASY access to the sites that I always went to. You see I have been hooked on porn for a very long time. I have spent alot of money on porn vids, and adult theaters. Then I found the free vids on the net and it was on from there. Porn, like alchol, is something that I told myself I would never give up. Well, here I am today, one month free from porn, alchol, tobacco, and mj. I still have a long battle ahead of me and yes, I can still fall back into one or all of these things. I am not superman lol. I just have to keep trusting in God and believing in myself that I can overcome. I also have help from friends here and the church I go to. There are also some other places I am looking to get involved with to help me because summer is coming and that is when I struggle the most *ReallyConfused*

It is possible to be an overcomer. It may not be easy but it can be done.

Luv and peace

Hey christianunderconstruction, Welcome to the SOS forum.

I think pornography of some sort touches almost every Christian. It can be on a tv show...or someone who walks by in revealing clothing...it's everywhere...so we must develop through Jesus ways to fight the temptation...since it is difficult to stay away from totally...and support from other Christians is one of the best helps we can have. If you are reading or replying to this forum...you have found a support network right here.

Will be praying for you christianunderconstruction. Please continue to share.

Take care and God Bless

Hello fellow Christians trying to overcome that which the world planted within us ...

Addiction to porn or just sex in general is much like the addiction that many have with food ... Is it not?

Once one indulges and finds it to be pleasing (at least during the process) ... The mind and/or body begin to crave it. As we continue to indulge, a habit is formed and this becomes an addiction.

As with any other addiction from smoking to drugs to alcohol to self harm ... Most truly want to stop and some "good" days actually believe that they can and will ...

But, it becomes overwhelming at times, in particular when boredom, loneliness, depression, tension, trials, tribulation or other negative external and/or internal conditions spring forth.

In many cases, we even create circumstances (whether we do so knowingly or not) as to give us a free pass.

You know ... The ole "Why Not" syndrome.

It appears so very appealing at first and we feel "normal" during ... But, in the end, we are sickened that we partook of it and can not discern why we continue.

This plants seeds of helplessness and hopelessness within as we continue falling into this trap of the mind and body.

As time passes, we can even become "numb" to the whole process and we lose the disgust and see it as just being part of our lives.

Yeah, we all get WHAT we do and even WHY we do it at times.

But, the question is ...

HOW do we destroy the craving for it?

I would like for you to share any methods you have found that have helped you overcome, if but for a day.

Luv ya
Jesus is coming ... Get your soul prepared.

I have found that having an accountability partner seems to help me. We question each other daily on their progress and encourage if their was a fall and reach out a hand to help pick them back up.

I try to stay busy and not have any idle time.
Even in the hardest of times...He is there holding our hand

Hello again,
I just wanted to say it breaks my heart to hear of the ladies who have also fell into this trap, I honestly never thought about it being a problem for a woman, I don't think alot of women can understand it so it at the same time makes me feel like there's hope that understanding will come in my wife and she will see I'm NOT the sick monster she thinks I am
but a lost soul that allowed satan to take over...BUT that is history and I am living the future of purity from this very bad form of satan's grasp to destroy marrage and good people.
I have used the counseling pages on oasis and I'm in the process of reading a great book on this called "every mans battle" but please ladies don't misunderstand the title it's good reading for you also
I highly suggest anyone fighting this to read it and allow thier spouse to IF they are willing
LET GO AND LET GOD!!

christianunderconstruction...pornography affects a huge majority of women as it does men...but women often hide the fact that they are exposed to it because they are ashamed or embarrassed to admit they have been tempted by it. But as you see many women including myself have been tempted by porn...I have overcome this temptation by throwing out access to the temptation...via books, movies etc...and once I was able to step away from these items totally I was able to ask God to remove the desire for them from me...but it took me making a choice to do whatever was necessary to remove access on my part...and then God was able to do the rest...

Keep fighting the good fight christianunderconstruction.

God Bless you

Hey guys,
I'm sorry to say I have fallen again and I knew I was going to but I couldn't find the strength to ask the Lord to help me fight the erge
the only good of it was I thought of the right person....I miss her so much! I was doing well before that but it makes it even harder when you've just split up with your better half because of the lonelyness
but I'm getting up and asking His forgiveness and dusting off my knees and start over again!!
Also I'm very afraid that my worst fear is coming true, I don't see her love for me anymore, it's like I'm just another person that she has to tolerate here and there, so it's like I said before IF you have not allowed it to go this far in your life STOP NOW BEFORE IT'S TO LATE!!!!
PLEASE don't risk destroying everything you love because of this sickness
get help and save your life as you know it
thanks for listening and your prayers as I will also continue to pray for all of you and this site
LET GO AND LET GOD!!

There's a new song by TobyMac out it's called Get Back Up...wanna share the lyrics with you christianundeconstruction....luv ya

Get Back Up

You turned away when I looked you in the eye,
And hesitated when I asked if you were alright,
Seems like you're fighting for you life,
But why? oh why?
Wide awake in the middle of your nightmare,
You saw it comin' but it hit you outta no where,
And theres always scars
When you fall back far

We lose our way,
We get back up again
It's never too late to get back up again,
One day you will shine again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever,
Lose our way,
We get back up again,
So get up, get up,
You gonna shine again,
Never too late to get back up again,
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever
[May be knocked down but not out forever]

You're rolled out at the dawning of the day
Heart racin' as you made you little get away,
It feels like you've been runnin' all your life
But, why? Oh why?

So you've pulled away from the love that wou'd've been there,
You start believin' that your situation's unfair

But there's always scars,
When you fall back far

We lose our way,
We get back up again
Never too late to get back up again,
One day, you gonna shine again,
You may be knocked down but not out forever,
Lose our way, we get back up again,
So get up, get up
You gonna shine again
It's never too late, to get back up again
You may be knocked down, but not out forever,
May be knocked down, but not out forever!

This is love callin', love callin', out to the broken,
This is love callin'.
This is love callin', love callin', out to the broken
This is love callin'.
This is love callin', love callin',
I am so broken
This is love callin' love callin

Lose our way, [way way way ay ay ay]
We get back up, [get back up again]
It's never too late [late late late ate ate ate]
You may be knocked down but not out forever!

Lose our way,
We get back up again,
So get up get up
You gonna shine again
Never too late to get back up again
You may be knocked down,
But not out forever,

This is love [lose our way] callin' love callin' [get back up again]
To the broken
This is love [never too late] callin'
[may be knocked down but not out forever]
This is love [lose our way] callin' love callin' [we get back up again]
To the broken
This is love [never too late] callin'
[may be knocked down but not out forever]

This is love callin' love callin'
Out to the broken,
This is love callin'....
