Thinking more about Iron's idea of singing... there are songs that emphasize thanksgiving and we can surely use those with the Thanksgiving holiday approaching.

Thanksgiving will also give us many chances to tell people exactly WHO we are thankful to and what we're thankful for... instead of mindlessly celebrating it as though it were just another day after all it's our only holiday that has no roots in pagan worship whatsoever.

Anybody know any Christian songs about thanksgiving or thankfulness?

Also... with Christmas coming up we'll have chances to use the Christmas carols to share... let's look for those that are scripturally based and sing them with a prayer in our hearts for the Lord to open the ears of unbelievers within hearing distance.

Thanks everyone for joining in on my favorite topic! I love ya!

Splash

I would like to take the time to commend you of your effort(s) to do more for our Lord and trying to find new ways to spread the Word .

If so happens my two cent's worth are worth that much still , two thoughts came to mind while reading your posts and replies , one , was the concept of "attraction rather than promotion" . Having taken a course or two in the arts , one of them being commercial arts , the rule of thumb is always on having people do a double take , to catch their attention first , to attract them , rather than saying "Look , new and improved !!! " "This one's better !! " so to speak . The idea of "promoting" the Word carries the risk of having people say " Oh , I've heard , seen read or tried that one before , thank you "
In your first post , you mention forming some sort of a "group" to discuss this . How about getting together and try to come up with a "new" idea rather than take an older one and doing it different way ? . Which brings me to my idea #2 , CD's , with the massages written on the labels and /or the cover with testimonies / songs / praises recorded to make the listeners want to come to our Lord on their own . Price of CD's nowadays is far less cheaper than printed paper , and all you have to do is put together and record one and make copies of it . I'll be more than glad to volunteer my multiple CD burner and time for a small fee , the price ? One person giving me a hug for accepting Our Lord as Saviour of the world .

Vahn! What an awesome idea!

I just recently read an article about how a group of missionaries has reached out to illiterate people groups with the gospel by providing little hand-held audio players with the Bible on them. I was thinking... that's what we need even for those who are already Christians because nobody seems to want to read the Bible these days.

I think that we need to reach people in any and every way... through the written word, spoken, sang, drama, video, taste, smell, lol

Who feels called to move forward with Vahn on this? Ya'll pray and put in your thoughts and ideas!

Keep 'em coming! I love it!

I am feeling compelled or maybe obligated to express my faith...1st to my family...who is not born again. Not by preaching or shoving a bible at them or condeming their life styles..(a life style that was shared with me at one time).but by the living proof!,the evidence before their very eyes!!!My God has changed me!!!Look at me!I am not the Angelo that they all have known. Go to my Facebook page..look at my comments, my picts.and look at the links there! My whole family and all my friends are connected with me there. They watch me..they go on and follow me.They can see that I have been transformed and "healed" ..they know my past... my history .. and they also can observe my present and know that I am sooo much better now! I am certain that my family will want whats best and good for me,I am also sure that they want a piece of this satisfied mind that is inspiring me.I cant wait till the questions start rolling in( they already are).I cant wait to share my Jesus with them! I pray that I am ready to answer and give my friends and family exactly what they need at that time. Please keep me in prayer!! *Guitar*

What we have done in the past here at my house...

We have bought candy.... You can go to Doller Tree and get a lot of candy for next to nothing.... After that we got index cards, and some ribbon amd hole punched the index card, wrote an incourageing verse and then take the ribbon and tie it to the candy and hand it out to peopel...
It doesnt have to be anything big... Maybe a sucker, or small piece of candy... Ya never know what kind of people you can help this way!!!

I will ponder on more ideas though...

Love the idea splash!!!

Love ya!!

first off, splashy, I love your new wet feet avatar. Sooo cute

When I was a baby Christian, I went on a cruise with my husband and another couple. They are not saved so I found myself backsliding in ways. So I asked God to bring me some Christian people. The next morning, on the breakfast line, I told a man how to pick up the really crispy bacon. He said thanks and as he was leaving, he said "Have a blessed day"
How simple, "Have a blessed day" It is so easy for us to say "Have a nice day" One word change. So I'm on the beach of some island and talking to a couple and as I am leaving them, I say "Have a blessed trip" The woman jumped up and down saying "I knew she was a Christian" and we ended up talking for an hour more.
I try to say it as much as possible and get really good reactions too.

Christmas time I have given out gingerbread cookies or candy canes to patients at the hospital. Not good for diabetics but nice all around.
It is better to light a candle then curse the darkness *lost*
No fear... just freedom *knight*

You all have terrific ideas for sharing the love of Jesus! Everytime I read one it gives me ideas of how I would feel comfortable using that in my own life! That's what this thread is all about ... taking away the fear of sharing!

Ange, your idea of testifying to all your family members of how God has changed you through your Facebook is awesome! Our families and friends can be the most difficult people with which to discuss spiritual matters. (In Mark 6:4) Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor." I love the way you've put a link to Oasis on your Facebook, and hope that others will think to do that as well!

Oasis had a vision for sharing the gospel with the lost through the internet and through his obedience he's created this Oasis, which indeed is a wonderful safe haven for believers, and a place for the lost to find answers. We don't always have to share the gospel ourseves but we can invite someone to where they will hear it ... to church... to Oasis... to a Christian concert or program, etc. Oasis has given me, and many others, space to post our testimonies. You can read mine at Splash for Life

Deetu.. thanks for reminding us that just saying "be blessed" or God bless you or soemthing like that is the equivalent today of drawing a fish in the sand... we need to come together with other Christians to strengthen, encourage and pray for each other. God never intended for us to be loners that's why He adopted us into His family.

Leaps! Have you heard the Legend of the Candycane? It's perfect for printing out and attaching to Canes to give out.

Look at the Candy Cane
What do you see?
Stripes that are red
Like the blood shed for me
White is for my Savior
Who's sinless and pure!
"J" is for Jesus, My Lord, that's for sure!
Turn it around
And a staff you will see
Jesus my shepherd
Was born for Me!

Love ya'll so much! We've just gotta share about Jesus, He went through sooo much so everyone can be redeemed!

Thank Him Praise Him!!!!!

As I work during the day, like most of us I have the radio on. I like to listen to a contemporary Christain rock channel that I can receive in this area. Now the type of work that I do is a simple job for me. I do semi tires and large earth moving tires. The type of truck that I drive looks massive. I t is a Ford F550 with a knuckle boom behind the cab and a 16 foot bed behind that. When I come pulling on to a job site it is not very hard to miss me with the yellow emergency lights flashing. Dealing with truck driver and heavy equipment operator's all I can hear everything from a pleasant conversation to some very voiced opinions. Some times the langue is not what you would expect to hear and then other times neither are the conversations.
One thing that I have noticed is that when I do not have the radio volume up that loud. These conversations are more likely to happen more. Then again when I turn the volume of my radio up, just enough to hear it. Above the roar of my engine and compressor. My customers seam to listen to what I am playing (because most do not expect to hear that kind of music) there seams to be a lot less swearing and diverse langue used.
Some ask, to what I am listening, and I am more then happy to tell them. Then I ask if they attend church and how long they have been going. Sometimes I get an answer and other times I just get a blank look. When this look appears I try to ask them about their beliefs, and I tell about how I came to Christ. They listen to my story and look in disbelief that I am still standing, let alone alive. I am glad to share that store, I always say that I am not proud of my past but I can not make like it did not happen.
So I use my job, my past, and my future t reach those that are willing to hear and let me speak. Those that choose not to listen still hear my story and then I ask a simple question in the end. Do you have something that needs to be lifted from them
