August 18 - When People Desert You
Paul was deserted. He wrote a letter to Timothy telling him that only Luke was with him. Demas loved the world so much he left him. Crescens left for Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. Alexander did him much harm. (1Timothy 4: 10-14)
"At my first defense no one supported me. but ALL deserted me; may it not be counted against them."
But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me in order that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the lion's mouth." (1Timothy 4: 16&17)
Sometime we rely on people and forget to rely totally on God. He will never leave us even when everyone else has. He is there. Waiting for us to call on Him and giving everything over to Him.
Because of my past, I have a big battle with rejection. Know one likes rejection. But when you focus on that and not on God you lose out on God's deliverance.
"the Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever Amen."
(1Timothy 4:18)
Paul knew that the Lord would deliver him. Not by some evil deeds but EVERY evil deed. How? By focusing on Him and not on people.
Do I still battle with rejection? Yes, but I am learning not to focus on it long but give it over to my Lord Jesus who loves me and gave Himself for me.
Love You All
