When God's works are fun

The Pastor in the Presbyterian Church I was going to (I am not Presbyterian) was touched by God and encouraged the congregation to move in His spiritual gifts, especially healing. (that's why I went there) After hitting a wall for so long, he finally decided to leave and started a new church, combining with a home church whose Pastor was moving out of state. Get this, it is located in the chapel of an old centenary college that converted to a community college.
Opening old wells...

After service, I hugged a woman who started prophecing over me. (I like to hug people) She was saying things I already knew but it was pretty cool anyway. Afterward, I was looking at her and she waited because I was looking at her midsection. I asked if she had trouble with her stomach as I was reaching out to touch her. She looked me in the eye and said she did. As I got ready to pray, I stopped, saying, "I'm not allowed to pray"

See, the Pastor made a point of telling the congregation that only the people with the "prayer team" tags were allowed to lay hands on anyone and pray for them in the church; that they will have training for people in the future and that they are picky on who gets on the prayer team. Even before the move, I was waiting to be freed to pray because apparently someone complained about me in the past, although I was never told what the exact complaint was. I'm not worried about it because I have confidence where I stand with the Lord and He is doing something with it.

Now here is the fun part. The woman says, "Not in church. Follow me" and marches down the aisle and out the door. Hee hee, gotta love her tenacity. She said she had bowel surgery with part of her intestine removed and she was going to have me pray for her because I was the only one that heard it. (meaning word of knowledge) So I prayed for her outside. She thanked me for being obedient listening to the Lord. Then she prayed for the fear to leave the church, to welcome others in their gifts. Last, she told me that she asked God to bring someone to her to pray for her healing and pain. Humm... didn't ask her if she felt better; guess I just knew she did.

I then hugged her again and introduced myself ::rofl

It really amazes me to see churches putting stipulations on God and what He wants....they didn't have prayer teams in the Bible that were the only ones allowed to pray...in fact it says to pray for one another....I'm glad you followed the Lord sis, and prayed the prayers that He wanted you to offer for her. God is not limited...He will make a way for His will to be done always. He is smiling on you sis.

luv ya

I think they do it because they want to make sure that the people praying don't have the enemy's influence.
Not everyone has insight to know the difference and they are being cautious.

There is actually a study group that gets together on Wednesdays that I am able to be me at. Trying to get through the Spiritual Warrior series but keep getting hit by other things from the Lord. (woohoo) Some of the people there are on the prayer team. It's kind of funny. You can pray here but not here and not in that way.

Oh Father, crack open those walls and let Your True Spirit fully in.
In Jesus's name I pray.

I hear of churches supressing gifts...yet I often wonder why man doesn't recognize the Holy Spirit as they should...trying to be careful so they tiptoe around appointing this one and that to use their gifts, but telling others not to do so...oh Lord open their eyes to the Truth.

People have been brought up different then in the times of Christ. In those times, they believed in Angels and demons.
Now, all the horror movies and wizards are good... I gotta tell you.

I used to watch Harry Potter when I was first saved but didn't know as much. The one movie I really felt uncomfortable with; recognized as evil and stopped watching all of them after that one (I even had them on DVD so would watch them a lot) and didn't go see any new ones... but in some ways I still wanted to. There is that draw...

Nowadays people don't believe that they can be healed with a prayer. But that is why there are so many healings in third world countries. They go with expectancy...believing that something will happen. They don't have doctors but most have witch doctors so they believe in the supernatural. Then when they see and have healings done in Jesus's name, they become saved and bring it back to others...then they are healed and saved.

Here, they believe that healings were done in the past. And never mind talking about deliverance...

My own mother-in-law, has a stack of prayers she reads every night. Loves God, knows Jesus died for us, goes to church every week, but when I prayed for healing of her wrist, she said it felt better but, " the chiropractor is going to work on it tomorrow and that usually helps." She had no faith that she was healed and unknowingly threw away that prayer and is still in pain.

Sigh...I know I am preaching to the choir here but it is easier to get to the lost, homeless, drug addited then the people who know God but don't know God.

Oh Father, let people become aware that YOU ARE SUPERNATURAL and that the enemy can only copy what You already do. Let them realize that Your gifts did not die with the last disciple and still exsists. Open more minds in the churches so Your Warriors can reach more of Your children so they can reach more of Your children.

Hee hee, can you tell what my calling is? *lost*

Deetu, it's sad when our own brethren refuse to see what God's power can really do. Instead they dismiss what prayer can do, and then don't receive the blessings that come from prayer...Tis very sad sis.

Keep your faith strong deetu. The Voice of Truth is much more reliable than the voice of man. You know that Voice well.

luv ya sis
