August 8 - God Rules yesterday, today and Forever

Postby Sylvia » Sat Aug 08, 2009 10:11 am

(Psalms 72: 8-9)
"He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.
The desert tribes will bow before Him and his enemies will lick the dust."

We look at the world today with war in Iraq and Afganistan. Violence every where. Some are afraid to leave their homes.
In this passage the verses are talking about Solomon; but in 1Kings 8:22-23
you read Solomon's Prayer of Dedication.
"Then Solomon stood before the alter of the Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hand toward heaven. And he said " O Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like Thee in heaven above or on earth beneath, who art keeping covenant and showing lovingkindness to Thy servants who walk before Thee with all their heart."

We also learn when studying Solomon that he too had his faults.
1. In luxurious living. 1 Kings 4:22-23
2.in Marrying foreign woman 1 Kings 11: 1-2
3. in exercising sensuality 1 Kings 11:3
4. In oppressing the people 1 Kings 12:4
5. In sanctioning idolatry 1 Kings 11:4-7

But He was chosen by God faults and all. He was wiser then any other man 1 Kings 4:29-31. He showed great insight 1 Kings 3:16-28.
He did make some wise choices 1 Kings 3: 5-9
And God used Him in building the temple 1 Kings 8: 22-33

Can God use us with our faults and our short comings?
Yes!!
"If we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

Even Peter, after he had denied Christ three times (Mark 14:72) He
was used by God to deliver a great sermon (Acts 2: 14-47)
Over 3,000 souls were saved that day. (Acts 2:41)

Thank you Lord God for using us by molding us into what you would have us be so you can work through us.

Love You All
