Cherished childhood stories/nursery rhymes
Did you have a favorite bedtime story or book that you cherished as a child?
I remember my dad used to sing this song out of a nursery rhyme book for me at nights before i went to bed.
I just googled the words cuz i couldnt remember all of them and wouldnt you know they are online! Im so happy
Lavender's Blue
Lavender's blue,
Diddle diddle
Lavender's green,
When I am king,
Diddle diddle,
You shall be queen.
Call up your men,
Diddle diddle,
Set them to work,
Some to the plow,
Diddle diddle,
Some to the cart.
Some to make hay,
Diddle diddle,
Some to cut corn,
While you and I,
Diddle diddle,
Keep ourselves warm.
Lavender's green,
Diddle diddle,
Lavender's blue,
If you love me,
Diddle diddle,
I will love you.
I also liked Enid Blyton books. I kinda still do Aww man they sure inspired my imagination.
Kinda makes me miss being a kid.

Hmmmmmmm
We never got read to as a child. I started reading at age 4, so I taught my older sis how to read and from then we read to each other from the children's Bible every night before we slept. We still have that Bible somewhere ... 20-odd years later.
Ah - the memories.

I'm with Poe, no bed time stories.
But I do have a rhyme that was very special to me.
In second grade I kept getting into trouble for not doing my work.
My mom took me to the eye doctor and I got glasses.
The next day in class I was amazed at how the projector shined words on the chalkboard.
I never could see them before.
Thus the reason I never did my work.
Glasses opened up an entire world of new things for me.
The poem was...
"Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear.
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.
Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy was he."

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

Mine was as story book.
My mother read it to me almost every night ...until I was old enogh to read to myself. I enjoyed this book well into my teenage years.
And later on read it to my own daughters.
It was titled 3 Little Horses at the King's Palace.
Was about the kings three daughters...all with sweet dresses, sweet faces and very curly hair..a blonde, a brunette and one with raven colored hair. Centering upon the horses they discovered off a traveling carousel that were aptly named Whitey, Brownie and Blackie.
It is a sweet li'l story, with gorgeous drawings that allowed my imagination to run away with me.
In fact I still have this book, sitting on my watercolor painting table not 5 feet away from where I am sitting now. You know it has been a while..maybe I will take a few moments to enjoy memories of a precious time.
Bless your day!
