Do I Miss Him?
Do I miss him? What an odd question to ask....of course I miss him. One does not spend years and years with someone and after they die, just stop thinking about them.
If you have read my story on my webpage on this website, you will remember that my husband died suddenly one hot July day. When I realized he was dead, one of my first questions was "How will I live without him?" But, the Lord stepped in...comforted me...gave me peace so that I could hold the hands of 2 of my children as we stood over my husband's body and pray for safety for their brother who was traveling to be with us. I prayed for strength, for peace, that we would need in the days to come. Know what? The Lord granted my petition.
As the years passed, I returned to normal activities....my vocation... doing volunteer work....caring for my family....serving in my church....reaching out to others.
I never remarried. Not because I felt it wrong or against HIS will. I just found satisfaction in the life my Lord has given me. I seek His will daily. Someday if the chosen man were to enter my life, for a righteous relationship, I would feel blessed. Until then, I smile a lot, laugh a lot and love a lot.
The Sunday night sermon on COOL church was about compassion. As you know, the sermons are posted each week for us to read, in case we are absent on Sunday night, or just want to reveiw what was taught. I have learned that the more compassion I show those around me, the more compassion is heaped upon me. I do not do things for others just so I can be rewarded.....I do it because I love people. Then in His graciousness, the Lord sends compassion and love upon me.
Ladies (and men)....sit NOT at home, wringing your hands and bemoaning the fact your mate is no longer with you. Seek out opportunities to serve and who knows???? The Lord just might have someone waiting to be placed in your life to bring you happiness. Our Father desires not for us to be unhappy. We are His children and He wants only the best for us.
I have only read one section of this study, "Til Death do us Part", but it seems to be something well worth our attention. I should never have been encouraged to post something here. Seems I never know when to stop. So with that, I will see you down the Road.

Sassy my hubby John and I (married 38 years) have discussed the eventuality our deaths, knowing one of us will be the first leaving the other behind.
You are yet another example of how to deal with the death of a spouse through God's supporting love.
We had another wonderful example from my brother in law, Frank when my oldest sister, Caroline died. We admired his strength which we knew came from his deep reliance upon the Lord. My sister and he had been in love and married for almost 40 years.
It brought home to us that one day it would be one of our turns to handle. It is encouraging to realize you do not fall apart...that the deep pain of mourning is assisted through your faith and knowing Jesus.
Thank you Sassy for sharing.

Do I still miss him?
Welllll, this morning when the sunlight hit my eyes and I had to crawl out of bed....you bet I missed him. You see, the bulb in security light in the back yard needs replacing; the washer died yesterday; the fan in the hood over the cooktop began making a terrible noise last night and my car needs to be detailed really bad.
So, if there is a prince charming out there somewhere who wants to fill my needs....there they are listed above.
But I am so blessed to have children who will come to my aid (if I tell them I have a need). Not everyone is blessed in this manner. I thank our Father for giving me those special children.
Just wanted to pass that along.
