8/24 Rose Garden

Postby splash » Fri Aug 24, 2007 11:27 pm

I thought I should let you all know before you call the SPCG (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Gardens)... that today i finally weeded (and watered) my rose garden.

You would think, that having postponed the chore for months, i could have waited a few minutes longer and taken the time to prepare. But no, I rushed out there determined to conquer the weeds.

I must say, I was amazed at how easily they came out... some enormous weeds were barely clinging by the smallest root. I was embarrassed about how long I had procrastinated because it appeared to be such a daunting task.

Only after my fingers were scratched and pricked by thorns did I realize i should have worn my garden gloves. The few minutes needed to put on sunscreen would have protected my skin from burning, and i could have avoided several mosquito bites by using bug spray.

Now I understand why Oasis is taking the time to prepare me, instead of just sending me out there to pull weeds. He understands about the thorns, the sunburn and the insects that threaten the gardener.
