I've always wondered about the death of Judas Iscariot. The Bible says that Judas hung himself. Knowing this, the Bible also says that Judas repented and admitted to his sin. It was predestined that Judas Iscariot would betray Jesus as noted by Jeremy the prophet. Therefore, did Judas Iscariot have the option of free will in the betrayal of Jesus? Could he have chosen not to betray Jesus? Also, do you think Judas was sent to hell for his betrayal, or do you think that since he repented of his sin that he could be forgiven? So many questions. Just wondering what others think.

Matthew 27:3-10
3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.
8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

Hi MIG! Pretty significant post concerning the final status of Judas, which continues to be of interest with many in attempting to determine that his life was an example of one having and losing salvation. Not to attempt to initiate the OSAS issue, I just wanted to share that I believe the phrase "repented himself" does not design the sense of repentance of the wrongdoing for forgiveness, but solely of a remorse resulting in a worsening condition of mental fear, which IMO is not related to confession of sin.

I would like to suggest this commentary from John Gill on Matthew 27:3-10 for a more inclusive expression:

It's my understanding that what God foresees and allows to occur is considered predestined via foreknowledge, which is not in the sense of God forcing how one is to be and act but in the sense concerning His omniscience, having foreknowledge of everyone's choices, all of which will occur, e.g. everything is destined to transpire as He has always known they will, hence predestined.
