Maybe this will help
I'm not sure how many of you have ever listened to Andrew Wommack or if you have you may like him or you may not. I like him he has truly helped me get a peace in my spirit when I would be down, here is his website http://www.awmi.net/tv/2013/week4.
Here is another gentleman that is a god send his web site is http://lovehealsdepression.com/. I'm not advertising for these two but I have found true comfort in both of them.
You can also find these guys on you tube that's where I originally found Love Heals Depression.
I have a question for everyone. 3 months ago I had something happened to me that crushed my world. I went into a state of deppresion and fear that I had never really experienced before. But on the up side of that I found God. I've been a Christian all my life but until this happened I really don't believe I was saved. I now think I was a fake christian. On the outside I did everything right but I didn't have him on the inside.
Any way my question is I have been trying to read the bible and and I just can't sit still enough. It is like I just can't relax when I try to read the bible. When I do read it, it is like I have to read the same thing over several times just so I can get it once. I'm just wondering if any one else has this problem.
I want to learn the Word the way Andrew Wommack knows the word. If you do watch him you will know what I mean.
Give me your comment. I'd like to hear from everyone about this.

Re: Maybe this will help
Hi Elvin,
As I read your post your words were almost identical to mine. I was saved many years ago. I tried and tried to understand the concept and I tried many times to read and understand the bible. I even went to a particular church for almost 2 years. It still didn't click. So I eventually quit. Then one day which seemed like a split second a fire was ignited within me. I kid you not! Each day I become stronger in my faith. My life has been changed in so many ways. When I first began I started I prayed to God to help me get started. He led me to the power of prayer, the Holy Spirit and the importance of repentence. This was brought to me because I prayed to the Lord to help me understand what I needed to do in order to serve him. I learned the importance of prayer and I learned who the Holy spirit is.
Here's a link that decribes who the Holy Spirit is.
http://www.jesusfolk.com/Bible/Topics/holy_spirit_various_scriptures.html
Also, you mentioned about having a hard time reading the bible. I do that too. I did some digging around the internet to find something that would help me and I found some really neat places where I could read the bible online. I also found a place called http://imtranslator.net It's a website that translates anything that you enter.
So far, I have learned that I have to take my time while reading the bible. You must remember that it is the word of God. It is crucial that you read it every chance you get. Don't get discouraged if you don't understand it. Each day before you begin pray to the Holy Spirit to open up your mind and heart to help you understand what it is you need to learn and how you can serve the Lord.
Now, about finding bible study resources online remember there is a lot of the wrong message out there so be very careful with what you read.
Here are some websites that I have found to be very helpful....
Translate and Speak
imtranslator.ne
http://www.biblestudytools.com/
http://www.biblegateway.com
http://ebible.com/
These are my favorite ones.
So......
In a nutshell....
Read scripture as many times as possible throughout the day. Keep trying!
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!
Pray to the Holy Spirit to help you to open up your heart and mind so you can learn what you need to do to serve God.
You cannot do this too many times. This is where you are talking to God.
DON'T GIVE UP!
Try starting out a little at a time.
Fellowship is very important.
You must go to church regularly
Expose yourself to God as much as possible.
Utilize this website as much as possible. The possibities are endless here.
Here's scripture about the Holy Spirit
http://www.jesusfolk.com
Scripture about prayer
http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/10-awesome-bible-verses-about-the-power-of-prayer/
Now of course God might point you in a totally other direction. This information is just that has helped me.
Good Luck!

Hey ElvinH,
I was just wondering if you've ever tried listening to the Audio Bible here at the Oasis? Instead of reading...maybe you are someone who needs to hear it.
Take care

Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

Re: Maybe this will help
Hello ElvinH
God bless you this day.
I believe The Lord led you here to this site, Christianity Oasis, just as The Lord led me here 7+ years ago. And, it is here that I grew in the knowledge of God and His Word, and where The Lord miraculously opened my heart up to Him and His Word through Love. God is Love.
We are blessed to have a wonderful library of Holy Spirit inspired studies, here on this site. Some studies take only a few minutes, while other studies incorporate the Step process -- lasting 7 days, and in some instances 28 days.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus introduces us to The Holy Spirit -- the third Person of The Trinity. The Holy Spirit is described as our Comforter, and He, The Holy Spirit, will lead us into all Truth. God's Word/Jesus is Truth. Therefore, we should always ask The Holy Spirit to help us whenever we are reading the blessed Word of God.
I suggest that you begin by reading a Study called: Temple of The Holy Spirit http://www.christianityoasis.com/Temple ... efault.htm
There is also another 7 Day Step Study called: Spirit of Truth
http://www.christianityoasis.com/Spirit ... tepOne.htm
Before beginning the Studies, open your Bible and invite The Holy Spirit to read the studies with you, and to help you understand. Again, The Holy Spirit will lead you into all Truth.
I have been blessed by every Study on this site, and this is where God ignited the passion and fire within my heart for Him and His Word. I had already been Born Again 22+ years prior to coming to this site; so I, too, was a late bloomer, but, wooooooooohoooooooo, He performed the miraculous in my being, here within this flock, and unless He leads me to another flock, this is where I will remain.
I, too, am familiar with Andrew Wommack, and occasionally catch a sermon of his on TV. It's awesome to know God has ignited many hearts for Him. God is so very Good!!!
ElvinH, The Lord will do the same for you, if you will sincerely ask, believe and receive. The Lord loves you, completely.
Below, are a few links on this site:
this link will take you to the Home Page of this site. It is there, you will find multiple links to various studies (see the center column) http://www.christianityoasis.com/christianityoasis/
this link will take you to an alphabetical list of various Christian Walk Studies: http://www.christianityoasis.com/Keywor ... tudies.htm
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, ElvinH, and I and/or another will do our best to help you find the answer, by the leading of The Holy Spirit . I'm so glad The Lord led you here.
God bless and keep you.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack

Re: Maybe this will help
I want to thank everyone for their help and support. I truly enjoy hearing from everyone. I have to tell you that I have a passion to live for Jesus now more than ever. I find it a bit discouraging right now because I don't have a job and I don't know what God has In store for me. I almost would like to go into the ministry but I have no education in that area. Actually besides high school I have no other education. I would like to go to college but the finances just aren't there plus at my age by the time I would graduate I would be around 58.
Lets put it this way God doesn't have a lot to work with but he does work miracles.
I look at ministers like Andrew Wommack that has been in ministry for 45 years and wish I could go back and change a few things in my life. Since that isn't possible I just need to look forward and have faith in God. My wife keeps telling me that several of the men that are in the bible we're older when God called them so maybe he was just waiting for the right time with me. Maybe it isn't even being in ministry but he just wanted me to be saved and follow him and put my trust in him. Right now I really have to put my trust in him. I have several issues going on that I can do nothing about. My hands are tied and I'm not use to that. I think that was one of my issues I relied upon myself to provide instead of allowing him to provide.
I will be honest with you ever since these events happened recently something inside me has changed. I yearn for God, I can't stand to watch TV anymore or even listen to the radio. The news casts, commercials even the shows that are on bother my spirit deeply. All I can watch are the different ministry programs on the computer, Netflix or you tube. I read the Christianity oasis daily and I enjoy talking to everyone. I pray a lot and try to read my bible even though I have to read the same thing three or four times over. He is all I have besides my family and the ones on here that I can talk with.
By the way as a side note who came up with this web site? I am telling you the person or persons that put this together are on the ball. I am reading stuff here that should be preached on in church. I have gone to church all my life from Nazarene to baptist, Church of Christ, Assembly of God and now a non denominational church and I get more out of this web site than any of those church's I have gone to in years. If I was a minister this is the stuff I would be preaching this what people need to hear. I just want the people know that did put this together THANK YOU. Even though they may never read my post you people are a true blessing to all of us.
God Bless each of you, you are a true blessing

Re: Maybe this will help
Oh by the way mig I do listen to the bible on my tablet. I have like three different programs that will read it to you and I do better with listening and reading along. I guess I feel like I'm cheating when I have it read to me but it is better than trying to just read it and go over it several times. Thanks for the suggestion.
