step 10:prayer questions
Today I learned/remembered not to complain in my prayers and to try and pray according to God's will and also realized that I should praise God every time I pray no matter how I feel.
However I have been hung up on this one for years. I'm probably over thinking it but it really bothers me. I've heard alot of people say that we should only pray to the Father but we should do so in the name of the Son when led by the Spirit. So I've always been confused about whether or not it's okay to talk directly to Jesus but I have because it's just easier for me to relate to Him and sometimes I just want to thank Him. But I wonder since He always gave Glory to the Father and seemed to exist to lay down His life for God's will if maybe His only desire is for me to Pray to God the Father and Love God the Father the way He did. And I have even less clarity on my relationship with the Holy Spirit. He seems very elusive for an entity that guides, it's like He's here but not here, like He's always right behind me so i can't see Him but I know he's there...am I supposed to pray to Him or is He something I'm supposed to ask the Father for? Or is He someone that is supposed to pray to the Father for me or through me, or do I pray through Him???????
I need a flow chart.
okay like this verse:
John 16:23-26
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you.
isn't Jesus saying not to ask anything of him but of the Father in His name? and it even seems to say at the end that He "say('s) not" that he will pray for us? It seems to be His way of saying that we are supposed to pray to the Father in His name doesn't it? I find the Holy Trinity confusing to say the least. And if I'm praying directly to Jesus do i still have to pray in his name?
Today's lesson says to pray to All Three, which I think would be nice if I could just get these issues settled.

Re: step 10:prayer questions
thanks. I thought I already knew all of this stuff but I guess not really. I re-read step 10 too and it made more sense the 2nd time.
