If you don't mind me asking some questions...Why do they think he's controlling and manipulative?

I was in your position before. The different is she constantly cheated on me. LOL! I can see that you are madly in love. I'll pray for you.

Re: I need prayer please
I will be praying for you. As a parent of a 19 year old daughter I have to be honest and say I would be freaking out too.I know for me it would be hard to see her in this dating situation. I would have reservations and the young man would have to prove himself to me that he had her best interest in his mind and heart for her. My husband and I would have to spend a lot of time with the two of them. We go out with my daughter and her boyfriend occasionally and have him here a lot as does his parents there. I think maybe they are really stressed over your mom's health and then are not sure he is being honest about his previous marriage and may be afraid you are going to be hurt and are trying to protect you. I will pray for your parents as well. It is hard for you as well as them. God can work it all out if it is his will for you all to be together. When everyone is calm ask them what you and this young man can do to make them more comfortable if you think they will be open to that suggestion. You know them more than I do. Try to see why they feel the way they do. It may be that they are having a hard time adjusting to the age difference and the fact he has been married before. Maybe he needs to come over and you all watch movies with your parents and just talk and stuff so they can get to know him and get comfortable with him. I hope these suggestions help. I am sorry you are in such a difficult position. I will pray.

Re: I need prayer please
Hi,
I haven't known how to give you advice because I don't know what it's like to be in your situation but then the Holy Spirit showed me something I hadn't seen until now. I married my husband who is seven years older then me, has been divorced, and is a Christian. My family didn't like him for some specific reasons for which I could understand but my family are not Christians so that's where I can't relate to you. But I like what the poster said before me and that is how I will be with my kids when they are of the age to court. Anyways, I left the decision to marry hubby up to God, by specifically and diligently praying, "God if I am to be married then bring him into my life otherwise you will be my husband " which He answered quite obviously and miraculously after three months time and God knows I would have been perfectly happy married to Him alone but that was not His will. Now my family has accepted my husband as the best thing to happen for me and my kids.
You sound like you're seeking God's will but be careful it's Him you serve in anything you do, emotions are very powerful and can cause us to make the wrong decisions. If you seek and ask God He will answer, wait patiently. While you're waiting reflect and remember what God has already done for you, this will help your faith to stay strong. As far as your sister goes if this is something you can't tolerate then you should set some boundaries which show her who you are and how you want to be respected.
I'll be praying for God to clearly show you his will. Stay strong in the faith little sister.
In Christ,
Shan

Re: I need prayer please
I've been through something very similar. I eloped. I do not now nor have I ever regretted that decision. I've been wrong about a lot of things in my life and I know because God always tells me over and over again until I repent. But Loving that boy and marrying him is the one thing I did right. I can tell when I'm in trouble with God, I've sinned enough to know the feeling by heart and marrying him without their consent wasn't a sin. It was hard and it hurt but not as much as turning my back on him would have. I remember the first time I saw him the way God saw him. we were on the floor and it just hit me like this huge wall of pain that no one loved him the way God loved him and it hurt God, that he didn't know his value, because no one had ever looked and I jumped up and ran to him and held his head against my heart and promised God that I would do my best to love him like that. I know we're all supposed to love each other the way God does but I think theres a special way it can happen in a marriage. It's almost kinda miraculous, and the fact that your so young and so true to the Lord and that you've fallen in love with a man who fears the Lord...I just think it's too beautiful to throw away and to me it seems like just the kind of thing Satan would want to destroy. I think your sister is jealous, and maybe the rest of your family is too idk but I kinda hope you marry the guy. My husband and I are celebrating our 6th anniversary tomorrow because we chose to leave our families and cleave to each other. sooooo worth it. If your family really loves you they'll see one day.

Re: I need prayer please
I broke up with him a week and a half ago. It was an unhealthy relationship and my family and friends were all really trying to watch out for me. There's other issues that are involved but I really don't want to talk about it especially on a public forum. I do believe that God has better for me. Spiritually, I had changed a lot and it wasn't for the better and God got me out of a bad situation. Please pray for Joshua that he gets closer with Jesus and for me for the same and that God continues to heal my heart.
