Well, I have made it to step 5. Now this one is also hard for me. We always seem to want to blame someone else for our problems. I understand temptation and my role in it. It says in the Bible when God spoke to Cain that sin awaits at your doorstep and this is true for us today. So far over the last 10 years I have done good. Dont get me wrong I have sinned but most importantly I learned and repented.

I think its important that we learn a lesson not only from trails but also sins we have committed. There is something in us that we need to work on that causes us to sin.

*hug* Jen, I'm so glad you are working on step 5 and moving along .... and love reading what you shared as well. Are you seeing the lessons in where you sin as far as what needs work; or perhaps needs healing and grace? *hug5*

My main thing is healing and grace. I have a hard time accepting God's grace. I have done alot in my life that has been wrong. I have hurt many and its hard to accept that God still loves me despite this. Make sense?

((((((Jen))))) it makes a lot of sense ... and this is what makes it grace. That there is nothing you could have done that would have meant you deserve what God has given you; and nothing you could have done that is too great that he won't forgive you when you repent and turn to Him (seems the bible study on this the other day was a good one!). Jen, take a look at the line of Christ at some of the people in there

we have .... (going on Matthew 1 and just looking at a few people and illustrations there)

Abraham - think Ishmael for one thing! and yet He is the father of faith - wow!
Jacob - this guy stole his brothers blessing! and yet we are told that Jacob I have loved - wow!
Judah - suggested selling Joseph! slept with his daughter in law believing her to be a prostitute (and this after he'd kept his son Shelah from her) yet there he is as well - wow!
David - adulterer, murderer ... just as a beginning and yet he is known as having a heart after God - wow!

God forgives you Jen

You are forgiven, you are redeemed, you are called his very own

Jen, if you are up to it, I want you to try something

Read the passage in Luke 7:36-50

Pray before reading
then read it aloud (this one on your own without the mic! :D)
don't think too hard just read
then read it aloud again
as you read the second time take note of what comes up - thoughts, images, memories, questions
then take some time to write them down and pray and see where God leads you

Praying for you Jen that you will be able to grasp God's grace for you more deeply and live more in the freedom He has for you

Well I am on Day 7. I have taken this program slow and I am glad that i have. Just cause I dont post doesnt mean that I am not working on "weeding" those things out.

Thinking bad thoughts is a small weakness of mine. I tend to look at things in the worst way possible first to prepare myself for it. Then of course I count my blessings when it turns out good.

I grew up in a group home on drugs and alcohol so i have lots of bad memories i need to weed out. I pray everyday that God will use me to touch others so that they dont go thru the same things i have. I try so hard to touch others. I just hope i am getting thru.

Its hard growing up like i did with no one to love me. My mother lived far away and my grandparents tried their best. I wish i had someone to hold me at nite when i was kid. I am a survivor of sexual and physical abuse also. So it was hard. I want no pity or anything ... im just saying it wasnt easy.

Well, my brothers and sisters I have reached step 8. I must say this is a great step for me. I tend to get caught up in that "we are only human" way of thinking. I do try my best to stay focused on God by listening to Christian music, reading my Bible and praying.

I think its important to stay focused on Him even in a storm. Its hard I know but it can be done. After reading this step I will try even harder. I might even go back a few steps and review. I am taking this things one step at a time literally. Thats why you dont hear from me for a couple of days on this forum. I am usually thinking and really taking in what was said.

God Bless All
