hmm...surround urself with things that remind me to stay on the path...fortunately i got this wonderful smart phone a couple days before i started this deal and there are a bunch of wonderful apps on there pertaining to the bible...heck i even have a king james bible on my phone so no matter where i am i can whip out my phone and blam! theres the bible! now using that wonderful thing when im feeling like a pile of poop is another thing...ive also quit watching tv(except sports) and the music i listen to is now all christian...at least i think it is anyway...12 stones and avenged sevenfold are christian bands i think??? someone correct me if im wrong on that...and as far as changing habbits...well lets just say that ive completely changed MOST of the things i used to do...unfortunately it has left me pretty alone as the people i associated with up until a couple weeks ago are not christian...in fact the only reason most of them were around was to take advantage of the fact that i had a job and an income...basically i supported their habbits...amazing that none of them called me anymore after i told them i was going to church and not smoking pot anymore...damn fairweather friends anyway...the thing im worried about is when this week ends and there isnt an activity at the church every nite and i have to find ways on my own to do "god" stuff because im "slothful"...guess like it says i have to train myself and learn to trust in the lord...the one thing that surprised the heck out of me is that i told my brother what i have been doing...he isnt a fan of any religion and has repeatedly expressed his disdain for such things...but last nite we had a good convo and he didnt tell me i was just a kook...big weight of my chest because he's my closest confidant...and i keep seeing that word patience in these steps...problem is that i never ever had any patience for anything in my life...as a matter of fact i usually become beligerent if things dont go my way exactly when i want them too...guess maybe i need to pray for some of that patience stuff...anyway i dont feel like such a tird today and most of it has to do with the responses to my last post...im thinking maybe i should find someone in the church that i can trust...which would prolly be just about anyone i just got to get over myself and my pride and do it

*BigGrin* YES!!! I like the more positive from you.. Ok...here are some bands that are pretty hard core (well I think but Im old) that are Christian. Also...Air1.com on the computer plays some really good music and has lists of some top tunes out now and the bands. Im really not into "praise and worship" music outside of a church service.
RED, disciple, The Afters, Pillar, Skillet, Switchfoot, Thousand Foot Crutch, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, City Harmonic, Manic Drive, Anberlin....these are just a few. I am into music. Linkin Park is not Christian based...but their newest CD has some pretty positive music.

It is hard to make new and different friends dude. But the more you hang out at church and see what they have going on...the better off you will be. You have a bunch right here too. so when it gets hard come on in to chat and have some fun with us. *BigGrin*

hey sovern *Wave* ,

Good to see ya again :)

Oh man i feel ya with the smart phone thing, I listen to a sermon almost every morning from a app, Truth for life, Alister Begg. He's a no nonsense type and realy gets right to the point. I like it cause i can interact when i listen by following along in my Bible and cause pause it when needed and go back if i missed a point. There are others im sure out there, but i am fond of how He speaks through him.:) Also i found an app that has a parallel bible with many versions, if you dont understand what is being conveyed in one version, u can gain insight by looking at the others. Just some ideas. I can let you know the app if you want they are free. :) First thing in the morning ( after all the necessary things of course)it realy sets the atmosphere for the rest of your day. When i skip it , i can realy tell the difference.

Also if you cant find enuff "God" things to do, as sbennet has stated you can come into chat with some like minded peeps and kick back. And u can reply to some posts here in the forums and or make new topics and shoot out some ideas :) As always there are many many Holy Spirit led studies and programs in chat as well, so we can learn together. We all in same boat with one Shepherd, Him *Cross* And we all tend to get tempted this way or that and this community is a wonderful way for us to fellowship and grow.

Just some suggestions *BigGrin*

God bless, prayin for ya

I'm glad you are taking steps forward and I want to encourage you to find a friend you can trust from church. Pray and ask God to guide you to the person or people you need and that maybe need you. Is there a bible study group for men at your church...etc.?

Keep the faith!

I'm proud of you!
